So as you may know, the luggage tote is a lot more difficult to track down in Canada so I would like to know how you got your hands on one! I want to order one from the states but:

1. I don't know how that works? Do you just pay on cc over the phone?

2. What are the extra fees for doing so? Shipping fees? Brokerage fees? Customs? Taxes? Duties? And etc.

So if anyone that has ordered from the states over the phone, please chime in!

Ps. I'm from Ontario if that helps in any way.

Thank you!

Where do you live? If it s Vancouver you can go check bacci's on south Granville st. I got my b/w mini luggage n black phantom there n they got lots of trapezes in stock!

I'm from Toronto too! Like the previous posters suggested, try and contact those two stores for stock too. If you can, leave your contact info at holts too but it'll probably be easier to get from those two stores. Ordering from Canadian stores will help you avoid the import duties, etc.

As for me, I didn't want to wait and just wanted a black luggage. I called a few stores in the US and found one at aloha rag in Hawaii. How it works is that you'll give them your cc info and address through the phone and they'll ship it out to you. Stores like Celine, Barney's, Neimans, etc will list the full value of the bag so you WILL be taxed heavily when it comes to Canada. I believe its 15-20% of what they declare it as. That's why it wasn't worth it for me to pay more. Aloha Rag declared a lower price of $600 and I was still taxed $200 when it arrived. Still.. It's better than the full value of $2700. Let me know if you have other questions

Also, if its possible for you, I believe that driving over to Michigan state is the best option. When I went, they had many luggages available! That way, you can see all the choices there..

Hi, I'm from Toronto as well.

My fruitless search for a luggage here in TO resulted in me finding a new shipment at Barneys NYC - Dec 30th, 2012. It was shipped to Buffalo by Jan 4th. I bought it over the phone from a Celine specialist whom was super sweet and helpful! If you want her info, PM me.

I had it shipped to CBI in Buffalo - so at least, there, you save on shipping.
Then you drive to Buffalo and pick it up at CBI.....what I did was not bring a purse, so when you come back in, you use the purse. ;) you know the rest, it was my lucky day!!

HTH.....

how much were they selling the luggage for? i live in vancouver and find it rather difficult to find one here too *sadface*

I'm from Toronto too and while I can't help too much with ordering Celine specifically from the US (got tired of waiting for holts and ended up getting 2 luggage and a trapeze in France last year...I went a little crazy but was just so excited to finally see them in store!) I have to second the cbi trick...done it with several items and never had a problems. Sometimes I even tell customs what I bought and they wave me through anyway.

As an aside I wouldn't hold my breath for a holts SA to get back to me. They never do.

I am also in Toronto. I just gave up trying to buy ANYTHING designer here LOL
We either get shafted with selection or we get shafted with shipping and customs.

i purchased mine while on a trip to nyc , but i have ordered other bags over the phone from bergdorfs in nyc.

they take your CC over the phone and you will be charged in US dollars. Customs fees into canada are RIDICULOUS ! So i always have everything i order that will incur a large customs fees shipped to a border mail service (i specifically use http://kinek.com and im from toronto so i ship it to their niagara falls 6th street location)

i just drive over and pick it up ,they charge a fee based on size/weight-- packages under 10 lbs are usually between 5 and 10 dollars. so its a great value.
on my drive back i always fill up the purse as if i was using it and throw away the box it was shipped in.

I second Cahier d'exercices, great selection and no crazy cross border fees. I've also ordered from Hirshleifers in NY, but can get expensive once it's all said and done.

And don't bother with Holts, I believe the only store in Toronto that stocks Celine is the bloor location and even if they do get stock, they never call! I've been on the list for a few seasons now and still nothing.

Hope you'll have better luck!

Thank you so much everyone for the advice! I didn't realize cahier d'exercises carried Celine luggages! I called them today and the SA was super sweet and sent me a picture of the one luggage tote that they had in stock, unfortunately it wasn't what I wanted so I declined. BUT at least now I know, the luggage tote EXISTS in Canada! LOL :P No more having to bother my bf and trying to convince him to go to NY for a shopping trip. Hahaha!

Anyways thanks again for all the helpful tips. you guys are all extremely helpful and sweet.

Oh, and I would be very VERY careful with bringing things back across the border without declaring them

From a CBC article:

What penalties will I face if I don't declare all of my purchases?

"If you are caught lying, your purchases may be confiscated and you may have to pay a fine ranging from 25 to 80 per cent to get the goods back. You may also face prosecution and border authorities have the right to seize the car in which you're travelling and issue a fine for its return.

Border agents will seize undeclared tobacco and alcohol permanently.

If you're caught not declaring goods, you will be entered into the Canada Border Services Agency computer system and you may face scrutiny crossing the border on future trips for up to six years. You can appeal seizures within 90 days of the incident."

I wouldn't advocate this behaviour as honesty is always the best policy (I've been let through by many border officials in the past despite having spent hundreds, if not a couple thousand dollars worth of stuff, tax free! Just be honest and friendly, it never hurts.) I mean, prosecution? Seizure of your vehicle? Added to a list of people they will scrutinize everytime you cross the border back to Canada? I just don't know if its worth it.

I really don't mean to be a stick in the mud, but it is the law after all.

There's also Corbo 119 in Yorkville; they carry Céline as well. And I totally agree with Holt's customer service being horrendous.

By far the best way to obtain your luxury bags is by CBI. They only charge $5.95 per item and accept both CAD and USD in case you haven't had time to do currency exchange. If I'm picking up a purse, I either don't bring a bag or bring a small one that will fit into my new bag. (This is what I did when I picked up my Phantom at CBI). Hope that helps!

I ordered mine from aloha rag. They are the only US store who claims only 25% of the full value. They also have a membership program, you will get 3% off on your first purchase and no taxes or shipping. I believe it cost me much less than if I were to get one from any of the Canadian stores. I bought a micro from aloha. It was 2200 at the time, with discounts and duty, I ended up paying 2300 cad
