Hi all,

I've been looking for a cafe racer style black leather jacket, and so far I've only been able to find two from the popular brands for leather jackets:

(1) Schott NYC:

(2) Belstaff:

I don't really like the quilting on the shoulders of the Belstaff jacket, but I think Schott sizing may be too large for me.

It seems like many of the other brands don't offer this style for women. Does anyone have any suggestions for other brands with this style? I've checked All Saints, Saint Laurent, Celine, Veda, etc. and haven't found any. Thanks for the help!

Try DROMe, Dsquare2 and maybe preloved McQ. You might only get mostly moto styles. Not sure how different cafe racer is compared to moto style. Designers don't seem to market their leather jackets with this name much.

I have just ordered a custom moto jacket from here. This is a bit of a fancy take on the racer. https://www.bythenamesake.com/products/the-grace

A more traditional racer lives on the men’s side.

I did the try at home with a virtual fitting and literally every dimension could be changed. Custom fit is basically the same as the standard price. It is worth a look. You could then get the custom fit for your frame.

My jacket had adjustments in the sleeve length, the bicep, raising the waist, and taking in/letting out to accommodate hips and bust. And adjustments in the shoulder. Basically everything. I didn’t adjust length, but that is an option too.

My jacket arrives in a few weeks.

Wow, that jacket is beautiful! The style is exactly what I was looking for, and I love that they're able to customize the fit. Please update after you receive your jacket - would love to hear what you think of it!

I will. I have been looking for a while. I love that I was able to chose the leather, hardware finish, and lining too! They showed me a sample where someone used a scarf for their custom lining. ❤️

Hi jade, have you received your custom jacket? Would love to get your feedback on the quality, fit, etc. Thanks!

Thank you for the reminder!

I got my jacket the other week. Will share some pics when I am back at home.

Overall my jacket is great. The leather is a soft but also thick lamb skin. Super happy with it. And it is a bit more durable than I was expecting as it is more weighty than a typical lamb skin.

The fit is almost perfect. The arms were a tiny bit snug. So I needed to do some extra moving around to get it to fit right! I probably forget to comment on that in the jacket fit. But we are talking about a negligible amount - 1/2 inch.

Shoulder and bust fit is perfect. Initially I felt like it was a tiny bit big in the torso, but once I had worn it around and it “settled” the back landed perfectly. (In my jacket there are some zipped vents that give you butt and hip room as well as shape! And the flare in the back starts at your waist. I have a short torso so the height of the waist was tweaked

And I can sit with it zipped and type. . So that extra little bit of room is very helpful.

Stitching and finishing was perfect. I love my hot pink silk lining. And I opted for the interior pocket - which is leather. The zippers are super high end. I also opted for a little bit of custom paint. It looks great.

The only small thing I wish it has is a dedicated hanging loop! The label of course functions perfectly for this but a cute little chain hanging loop would be nice.

It also arrived right on schedule and was nicely packaged. Definitely a good experience all in all. And it is a much nicer jacket than many others. Looking at both the leather quality and the finishing. I looked at Veda Jackets as well. They are around 20% less expensive - but still higher end. And I could see the step up in quality from those (which are very nice as well).

The try on at home thing really sold me. Being able to try on the canvas replica was so helpful to understand the fit and where things might land. And to frame the virtual fitting session.

Thank you so much for the detailed review! The whole experience sounds great - I'm definitely going to start planning my purchase!
