Bulargi is one of my favorite designers! That's a great bag. I'd guess it's either lambskin or box calf.
If the turnlock was solid gold, it'd be hallmarked 750 (Italy's equivalent of 18k). My guess would be gold plated.
You can always contact Bulgari and ask them about it.
