So, I have found a bag I adore but it is made by a brand which I no longer particularly covet (Mulberry).

I am an LV girl at heart and I pay the high prices they attract.

The bag I like now is in a similar price range - around $1500. I LOVE the bag. It actually makes my heart sing much more than any other LV at the moment. But I'm wondering if that is enough for me to pay the high price tag and not have an LV.

What would you do and why? This isn't a LV vs Mulberry thread so please feel free to discuss other brands :smile1:

If you love it then go for it! I find that I'll fall in love with a particular style bag that LV offers but will look around for something similar. I've ended up purchasing the similar style on occasion and I'm never happy and end up eventually getting the LV. So, for me, if I don't love it and I'm somewhat "settling" then I won't buy it and will hold out for the LV.

Sounds like you wouldn't be settling and that you love it. I'd go for it!

I would definitely get it. LV is my favorite but it doesn't mean that I can't fall in love with another bag from a different brand. Sounds like you love this bag. I just took back an LV bag I didn't love and I'm going to buy something else from another brand I've had my eye on for quite a while. Go for it!

Do it! ;-) ~ I recently purged a lot of my Louis Vuitton collection to buy Chanel. I just wanted something different and something that would hold up w/ the Seattle rain. 4 average priced LV's equal 1 Chanel. ~ So after it was all said and done, I kept 2 Chanels (both black, in sig) and took the beige GST back to Neimans Chanel and sold the red GST. And started buying Louis Vuitton again. HAHA Oh well . . . Life is so short. I say buy, sell and repeat. ;-) I am not one to carry the same bag for years I think. I will always have a rotating inventory. ;-)

If you love the Mulberry and think you will get a lot of use from it then get it! But make sure its right for your lifestyle because theres nothing worse than buying a bag you love but don't use because it's not practical for you. And Mulberry is still a great brand with good quality bags. Which bag is it out of interest? :smile1:

I ventured outside of LV and bought the OS Alexa last year. Big mistake!! I hate that bag. You didn't mention which Mulberry you were thinking of so if it is the Alexa, I hope I didn't offend. I think I would've been okay with it if it was the regular and not the oversized. It's just too big, heavy, and hard to get in and out of.

I think if you love the bag and the you will use it, you should get it...I have a lot of LV bags and slgs and recently started looking at other designers like Gucci, Balenciaga and Givenchy...it's not always a bad thing to have a varied collection of designers......

I know how you feel, I have the same conundrum at the moment!

I am in love with a Burberry bag, and it is just calling my name.

I am trying to stop myself, so much so that when I just sold one of my LV's to fund one that's coming out in April, I requested to be paid in LV giftcards :D

It's called Delphie. It's effectively two bags in one as it can flip into a different colour. You can see the video here on the Mulberry homepage:

The particular bag I want is the jungle green one. Green is my favourite colour and I love the pop it gives the bag. I also don't have a black bag so this bag could serve that function too. My style is vintage, lace, gold but laid back rather than ladylike so I'd wear it with the longer strap so that it falls at my hip. Haha you can tell I like it I can't stop writing about it :lolots:

Im really sorry if the links don't work- I've not done that before.

I like the look of an Alexa but it's too big for what I'm after. The oversized version looks HUGE! Lovely leather though. :p

I definitely wouldn't be settling but I can absolutely understand how settling would just leave you disappointed! LV just doesn't have a bag like this at the moment. I feel like I'm done with canvas, Empriente is out of my price range and while I do like epi, I haven't fallen in love with any of the colours and the silver hardware annoys me (I only wear gold jewellery, accessories etc)
