Buying Hermes on Amazon?!

TPF may earn a commission from merchant affiliate
links, including eBay, Amazon, and others

I got an ad from Amazon selling Hermes bags. I was flabbergasted so I clicked the link, apparently the bags are being sold by 'what goes around comes around'.
Aside from not knowing if these are legit bags not fakes, would you buy an Hermes on Amazon? How do you feel about Amazon selling Hermes?
Talk about removing the Hermes mystique and exclusivity .

You're right. What Goes Around Comes Around also sells via Shopbop and they have a few H items listed (mostly Evelynes). I'm not sure Shopbop fits the brand any more than Amazon!

This is not an association between Hermes and Amazon
and I think that idea should be quoshed right away.

'What Goes Around Comes Around' is a seller of second-hand items and can use any internet facility it may choose that offers it a shop window. There are a lot of reputable Japanese consignment shops that use Ebay.
Even today I saw a listing from reputable shop based in Zurich.

I am afraid that idea was lost long ago

This ^^^
Amazon bought Shopbop years ago.
Anything that gets sold on Shopbop can be found on the Amazon marketplace. (OT but if you prefer Amazon's return policy to Shopbop's policy on their home site, this is a helpful thing to know as often you can get better terms.)

Just wanted to add that while I’m not personally familiar with What Goes Around Comes Around, it has a solid
reputation and is a legitimate business of selling vintage and second hand goods. It’s been around for decades
long before TPF and internet resellers (I cannot speak as to any specific items, and one should always authenticate if uncertain, but it is not one of those shady Instagram or Facebook scams). Just in case someone someone reads the thread title and assumes erroneously that these are purveyors of fake goods.

Yep, it's quite an old business that started (IIRC) with a store in LA decades ago. Their business model now seems to be as purveyor of things that ecommerce platforms cannot order directly (like Hermès bags and vintage watches). WGACA was on NAP for a while and might still be on Farfetch. I recall their prices being outrageous but I think we are all familiar with that when it comes to H resellers ;)

I had a very bad experience with What Goes Around Comes Around Soho years ago. I asked about their authenticity policy on a discontinued designer (jewelry) item. The SA asssured me it was authentic and stated that if it wasn’t they would accept a return. Immediately after I paid and left the store, I went across the street to have the item monogrammed at the designer’s store, where I was told the item could not be monogrammed because it was a replica. I went back to WGACA, and the same person who said they would accept a return denied it, and said the designer’s SAs didn’t know their own merchandise. He even spoke to the designer‘s store and told them they were wrong. All this occurred within the span of half an hour (on my birthday, no less).

Sorry to go a bit off topic, but my point is that would never fully trust WGACA on an Hermes item. Amazon has solid return policies and AmEx has great protections too, but who needs the headache if something goes awry?

I personally would not buy Hermes on Amazon unless I have researched the seller. It just seems ‘off’ . I know Amazon offers legit branded luxury items —- but they’ve been know to sell imitation items …☹️

Sorry to go off topic as well
