Buying a Chanel J12 online

I think there were a few people who bought theirs from eBay and got genuine watches. There are also a couple of sites (Jomashop and another in Florida whose name I forget) that members have received authentic items from, but these are grey market.

I don't think World of Watches sells the Chanel J12. If you purchase gray market, it does not mean they're fake. It means that Chanel will not touch the watch, or honor a warranty. If you're lucky, they might fix for a fee. If you buy from SWI, which operates the World of Watches site, they do maintain and repair your timepiece. So if they have a J12, you''re good. I bought their brand of an homage watch, because it was too much to spend on a trendier watch. Of course, if money didn't matter, you would go through an AD. If you buy on ebay, make sure someone will cover your watch.

Yup, sites like jomashop sell legit watches, but the manufacturer's warranty is essentially voided. I believe they offer their own one year warranty, and they will fix the watch if something goes wrong with it (instead of the manufacturer).

what if u buy from a jeweler that carries chanel watches and IS mentioned as where to buy on chanels' website? can u still go back to chanel boutique to get it fixed if anythign happens?

isabel- do ur diamond markers really flash and sparkle? because i know diamonds alwauys pop out more on black but i dont know about the white. and what size did u get the 33 or 38??

I got the 38, I really wanted an automatic watch and I like bigger sized watches.

The diamonds sparkle a lot, even on the white. I love the contrast that white and silver (the setting) have with the diamonds. Black vs. white J12 is really a matter of personal preference. I prefer the white, but that's just me. I love moving my wrist around and watching the diamonds sparkle. I do admit though, the diamond markers are fairly small. The diamond markers on a Rolex are a lot bigger (and a lot more $$$).

^Mmm yes, I had to get several links removed from mine. I bought it from the Chanel Fine Jewelry boutique in Honolulu. I've actually been meaning to get another half link removed but haven't gotten around to going there to get it done.

I would think that you would be able to bring in any authentic J12 to a Chanel boutique (that sells J12's) and you would be able to get the links removed for free. Or I'm sure you can take it to any fine jewelry repair store and have them remove the links, probably for a nominal fee.

This is not true at all, at least in my personal experience. I bought a J12 on ebay and damaged the crystal. My Chanel boutique sent it away and fixed it, good as new with no charge whatsoever. Not sure where you got your information.
