Buyer's Remorse: Shoulder Kelly

It's not easy to sell these, I think. People just aren't buying so much right now, and those who want a Hermes bag buy them from the stores. But I agree with lulilu, you can see if you can get a store credit for something else.

I'm sorry, but I have to respectfully disagree with the above poster. I just purchased my very first Hermes -- and I did so from an online (verified by tpf, of course!) reseller. The bag is brand new, but it was a little less than full price. I can't believe I spent so much on a handbag. Saving every little hundred dollars or so is a big deal to me. I have no H boutique anywhere nearby, and no plans to travel to visit one, so online is basically my only option.
To the OP, if you CAN get your money back, or a credit, then that's terrific -- but if you can't, there may still be a chance for you to sell, although you may not recoup your full purchase price. Best of luck!

A few weeks ago, I got a Shoulder Kelly in Ciel Togo. Now I'm regretting the purchase. Is it easy to sell (never worn/used outside)? or should I learn to love it? :-(
This is such a beautiful bag~~~
One of our members posted it in action and personally I think it looks TDF. Perhaps your boutique will do a credit? Call them ASAP. Do you have a good relationship with your SA?
Otherwise we have recommended consigners and resellers here. Good luck.
It is a huge purchase and you should be thrilled with it.

Can you return it to a US Hermes store? I would check for that kind of money. Even if you had to take a small trip, personally I'd rather have a credit at a Hermes store than deal with the hassel of selling something so expensive. good luck!

THANKS TankerToad! Didn't expect to see a pic of me here! Personally, I am totally in LOVE  with my ciel SK.... To me, the colour and style fit perfectly and I could not imagine getting a SK in another colour? (But then again, I'm biased! :p)

However, if the bag is not for you and you are not 100% happy with it, then I fully agree with everyone that you should sell it off - either to friends or through a reseller. I'm not sure how it works in the US but in Asia, I don't think it is possible getting store credit for an item you bought from another H store overseas. Such a pity though coz Ciel is a colour that might not be so easy to get in the future!

I remember my SA telling me once that Hermes' return policy is that goods can be exchanged for store credit at any boutique in the world except for mainland China and South America. Not sure if it's true though...

No harm asking your local store. Store credit beats reselling any time

But then again, if you manage to sell at a premium I don't see why not

That's too bad you don't care for your JPG II... I love mine and I have 2 of them! I use them for traveling - it's a great carry on bag... holds a lot! :D

I'd contact a reseller and sell it if you're not happy with it. Either that or try to contact Hermes here in the states to see if they'll take it back for Credit. It doesn't hurt to try... Good Luck!!

I agree with people here, try to sell it and take it as a lesson learned if you really don't love it. Taking a bit of loss is better than having a huge white elephant, kwim? Using a reseller is great with little fuss involved.

BTW, shoulder kelly is not JPG II.

I have a similar situation with a 30cm orange togo birkin that I purchased about six weeks ago. I took it out of the box and looked at it and decided I really need a shoulder strap, but it is too late to return even for a credit I believe!! Not sure what to do... Not sure how to function without a shoulder strap!!!

Love the Birkins (especially Orange Togo - all time favorite!) and it does take some getting "used" to - carrying a bag w/o a shoulder strap. But those of us who are (ahem!) a little more advanced in years, remember that most purses (including original Kelly and Birkin) had no shoulder strap. You might really enjoy it. Big heavy shoulder bags take a serious toll on your posture over time. You'll never have to worry about that with a beautiful, timeless 30 cm Birkin!;)
