Hi there,
I'm seeing trench coats in the sale that are in their classic cuts but are of the tropical gabardine fabric. Does anyone know what the tropical gabardine fabric is?

Also the cashmere trench coat is pretty significantly discounted. Any idea how these hold up? Is the trench not a popular style for wool coats? Wondering what drives those being more heavily discounted.

Tropical usually just means lighter weight, whereas gabardine is the weave used to make the fabric (most gabardine is cotton). So it’s likely a lighter cotton fabric than the standard “Signature” military inspired thick cotton gabardine.

As for the discount on their cashmere coats, they tend to be more expensive and don’t move as quickly on the sale floor. Burberry also has a very wide range of cashmere coat quality, whereby the vast majority uses only a small quantity of cashmere in the blend. Even their 100% cashmere coats are mostly single faced but if you manage to find a double face cashmere on sale, they tend to be a great quality coat.
