I think they look nice, but how functional are they? My sister has one and she always seems to be digging around for something, finally emptying the whole bag before finding what she needed. Maybe it's just her bag?
Nah, I think that's the nature of bucket bags. They're deep and narrow, so they tend to be black holes. MK has some really cute suede ones right now, but I've passed for exactly that reason.
Agreed with above posters--they're leather buckets. With drawstrings.
They function as buckets, imo.
But suck for mixing cement or holding water for cattle.
Personally, the drawstrings are what dissuade me.
These remain my nemesis.
So, I opted for zippered tote with pockets/pouches.
Absolutely, light interior. To avoid black hole effect.
Still, no cement mixing.
I mean I already have a problem with things going missing in my bag, so I did pass on the one I saw yesterday. I would be that person whose transaction would take 15 minutes while I looked for things as the line backed up behind me.
In Trenton Lee Stewart's book, The Mysterious Benedict Society, a female character carries actual bucket.
Her name is Kate. She wants to be called, "The Great Kate Weather Machine." But no one will go along with this.
Here is overview of bucket's contents/organization:

I have found my bucket bags surprisingly versatile. I have the Mansur Gavriel in both the mini and the regular size. The fact that they are structured and sit upright actually helps in some instances, and I like that I can put a water bottle inside along with other things and it helps hold things in place. I do keep a wristlet with my phone inside so it makes retrieving it easy. I do have to dig around at times but no more so than in most of my other bags. I suppose it just depends on what you like to carry. I find the bucket more organized than a hobo, which I also like but consider a black hole sometimes.
I have 3 bucket bags. Two are vintage Coach, but I don't use those as one of my hobbies is collecting vintage Coach bags. The second one is a Vince Camuto. I love the color, and the drawstring doesn't bother me. However, I have come to the realization that they were just not functional. Everything just settles to the bottom, and I don't really want multiple pouches and cases in my bag.
I had a bucket bag but sold it. It was as deep as it was wide so didn't sit nicely against the body. I see some of the newer styles aren't as deep but still the drawstring annoys me. I am always in and out of my bag and fiddling around with it became tiresome. I'm still tempted when I see a nicely shaped one but remind myself I've been there done that.
Drawstrings are great for me as long as I can use them as a satchel. I have these three D&B Buckley bags. The white and raspberry are florentine leather, the green is Nubuck.

I have three bucket bags, and it really depends on what size you get, and what function you have. I have pouches for everything, so finding things inside my bag isn't too hard. For me, a bucket bag is the equivalent to a plain tote bag with no organisation, and if you want organisation you can always get a purse organiser.
