Brushed or polished hardware?

Has anyone ever seen brushed (palladium plated) hardware (locks, round cylinder, end caps) on older Hermes items? I thought all hardware was polished shiny?

How about hardware that is tarnished?
I have some tarnish marks and wonder if the hardware should be/can be replaced?

Thanks in advance.

Yes I have seen it. You say on an older bag, how old are you talking about?
The hardware can be polished by H and they can probably also tell you if the tarnish you have can be polished out or would need to be replaced.
Yes, you can chose brushed on special orders. I'm not sure about PO's.

I had a brushed palladium Birkin in 2001. Briefly.

Is this on your herbag? I think you will find it is impossible to "polish" brushed hardware. Removing tarnish marks, however, is worth looking into - I would have thought this can be done. Palladium is normally very tarnish resistant. I have seen some older Hermes pieces where the leather looks a little "beaten up" but the hardware looks brand new until you look really close and see tiny scratches, etc.

I think you can have brushed hardware touched up. Personally, I would try a gentle rub with a very fine steel wool.

Hardware can always be replaced for approximately $500 USD, 6-8 weeks.

If it is a vintage bag, perhaps a little patina on the hardware would be desirable. It adds to the charm of the bag and is a reminder of its history.
