Official Britney thread

What happened in March 2002?

Unfortunate for Britney. She's still so young and her career is going down the drain. She needs a new publicist, stylist, brain, etc...

I've seen other fan website shut down due to lack of interest in the celebrity (not just Britney) from the person running the website itself. People do grow up and move on to other things.

Actually, Ruben (webmaster on WorldOfBritney) was forced to close down the site, he just didn't tell people that version of the story. Check this out:
From PerezHilton.com:
The webmaster of one of Britney Spears' most popular fansites made headlines worldwide when he announced this week his decision to shut down his site because (amongst other things) the singer has lost "her identity and credibility within fans and industry people."
He added that Britney was done for him and that it was hard to maintain the respect needed to keep things going.
However, PerezHilton.com has learned that the aforementioned Britney fansite webmaster was forced to closed down his own website.
And, in a pathetic attempt late last month, he emailed someone in Spears' camp, attempting to get them to help "save" the fansite.
PerezHilton.com has obtained that email:

Hey XXXXXXXXXXX,
I've got some pretty bad news. When I shut down WoB back in 2002, I sold the rights to the domain name to a business man in Asia, who since then has had me update and work on the site and keep making it my own after I returned 3 months later (long story). Either way, he's selling his business and entertainment network sites to a bigger company for over $3 million and WoB is going to be included in that deal. I asked him what was going to be done with it and he said "nothing" because the new buyer was not even interested in WoB. I asked him what could be done for me to be able to keep the website and transfer 100% ownership to me and he told me I would have to buy it off from him for $50,000 or best offer. So , unless that happens, it is with 100% certainty that WoB will be lost when the sale goes live in January of 2007. Do you have any thoughts? Would you or Britney be interested in buying it off for me? I have begged and pleaded with him to let me keep it, but it won't happen unless it's bought off. Get back to me please.
The site right now is generating over $5000 in ad profits per month, so I'm sure that in less than a year, we could make that money back.
-Ruben"
Unfortunately for him, Britney's peeps said "no" to his offer.
Of course, none of this was mentioned in the press release announcing the close of the Britney fansite.
PerezHilton.com contacted the webmaster for comment.
Before we posted this, we asked him: "Is there anything you'd like to add or you felt was missing from any of your statements about why you are closing the website?"
His response: "I have exhausted my attempts at making Britney show appreciation and respect for the millions of fans that have been waiting for her comeback after all these years, with a recent incident, where she blatantly stood up two winners who had won a meet and greet with her, setup by her management through World of Britney.com, on October 31st, 2006. These fans flew all the way from the east coast, paid for the flight themselves and had to go back home empty handed and disillusioned. Even though an apology was issued by management, Britney had nothing to say. After everything that has been going on, including the over-the-top behavior and latest antics, that was the last straw. If Britney does not care, guess what, neither will we."
Wow. With fans like that Britney doesn't need any enemies!
We're sure Spears won't miss the closing of that particular fansite. She's too busy recording her new album and working on other ventures.
In spite of all the current press issues, her new fragrance launch "Midnight Fantasy" out sold all of her previous launches.
Her fan base is still strong.
The true test will be in the songs. And we have faith that she's working with some hot producers and the comeback will happen next year.
God willing!

Moments after crowds cheered in the the New Year, paparazzi princess Britney Spears collapsed at the PURE nightclub last night!

An hour earlier, Brit had hosted two countdowns to usher in the New Year - one inside the VIP section at the hip hot nightspot and a second up on the club's upper outdoor terrace overlooking the famed Vegas Strip where fireworks were shot off from seven casino-hotel rooftops.

Britney's collapse early this morning is now shrouded with mystery. Here is what we have learned: She had been seated on a VIP tented-cabana bed overlooking the dance floor at 12:50 AM talking with one of her male dancers. She signaled to her crew she wanted to leave and as she stood up, "she went into a dead faint and just fell right to the floor."

Brit's heavy entourage pulled her up and laid her on the bed at the same time as her personal security asked for the club to provide at least 10 other security managers to "get her out as quickly as possible." They surrounded Britney in an attempt to screen her from all observers and the new years revelers on the crowded dance floor. Photo-taking was not going to happen.

Eventually, Brit's 12-man-strong security force was in place, as two of her dancers wrapped her in a blanket-hooded poncho. Literally carrying her in both arms, they managed to zig-zag her through the crowds and out of the club.

In the wee hours of the morning, an ambulance was called to the hotel but it was unclear if it was brought to Caesars for Britney or some other drunken patron

She needs to calm down some in 2007.

The other thing (sorry if this sounds cold when the story is about her fainting) that occurs to me is, who can continuously afford that many security/ bodyguard people? I don't care how rich you are, and she hasn't worked in awhile, that has to be a drain on your funds.
