Britney: No Panties,No Publicist, And Now, No Fan Site !

Jan 23, 2006

The Webmaster of one of the biggest Britney Spears fan sites -- -- is closing up shop because he thinks the mother-of-two is "unfortunately done." Too many nasty paparazzi shots of Brit-Brit baby factory perhaps?

December 27th, 2006. Los Angeles, CA.

As Britney keeps losing her identity and credibility within fans and industry people, so is WoB. We're moving on to greater, bigger things. I would therefore like to announce the permanent shut down of World of beginning January 31st, 2007. As WoB closes, Carolina and I will be launching a brand new state of the art Celebrity Blog.

The new site will be 100% Web 2.0 compliant featuring widgets, live search, communities, the ability to send in cool videos through your cell phone and so on. It's something I've been silently working on for the past 3 months, and with 7 years of experience as a successful webmaster, I think 2007 will be a huge year for this new site (which I won't mention the name of yet but, you'll be like 'Ohhhhhh'...)

No worries though, Britney will still be covered and our relationship with her people, Larry etc....will remain intact. I'm also going to use the new blog to educate people about the entertainment industry, get people into making short films, have competitions, etc....

The point is to combine what everyone else is doing at the moment with all their celebrity blogs into one place.

I think that WoB has had its run.......its feet are not holding firm anymore, not because of my ability to run it, but because I believe Britney is unfortunately done (for me at least). No matter what anyone thinks or how they may disagree, it's very hard to maintain the respect needed to keep things going, so in turn, I'm trying to be a step ahead of it, and yes, for those of you laughing and remembering what happened in March of 2002, this time, it will be for good  WoB will continue to provide its daily updates to fans up until it's time to say goodbye. We look forward to continuing to report news on Britney, it just won't be exclusive about her anymore. Thanks for your attention and a BIG THANK YOU to all of you who have been visiting the site since the beginning and supported WoB through it all ! It's been a total blast.

All my best,

What happened in March 2002?

Unfortunate for Britney. She's still so young and her career is going down the drain. She needs a new publicist, stylist, brain, etc...

I've seen other fan website shut down due to lack of interest in the celebrity (not just Britney) from the person running the website itself. People do grow up and move on to other things.

Actually, Ruben (webmaster on WorldOfBritney) was forced to close down the site, he just didn't tell people that version of the story. Check this out:
The webmaster of one of Britney Spears' most popular fansites made headlines worldwide when he announced this week his decision to shut down his site because (amongst other things) the singer has lost "her identity and credibility within fans and industry people."
He added that Britney was done for him and that it was hard to maintain the respect needed to keep things going.
However, has learned that the aforementioned Britney fansite webmaster was forced to closed down his own website.
And, in a pathetic attempt late last month, he emailed someone in Spears' camp, attempting to get them to help "save" the fansite. has obtained that email:

Subject: Bad news....
I've got some pretty bad news. When I shut down WoB back in 2002, I sold the rights to the domain name to a business man in Asia, who since then has had me update and work on the site and keep making it my own after I returned 3 months later (long story). Either way, he's selling his business and entertainment network sites to a bigger company for over $3 million and WoB is going to be included in that deal. I asked him what was going to be done with it and he said "nothing" because the new buyer was not even interested in WoB. I asked him what could be done for me to be able to keep the website and transfer 100% ownership to me and he told me I would have to buy it off from him for $50,000 or best offer. So , unless that happens, it is with 100% certainty that WoB will be lost when the sale goes live in January of 2007. Do you have any thoughts? Would you or Britney be interested in buying it off for me? I have begged and pleaded with him to let me keep it, but it won't happen unless it's bought off. Get back to me please.
The site right now is generating over $5000 in ad profits per month, so I'm sure that in less than a year, we could make that money back.
Unfortunately for him, Britney's peeps said "no" to his offer.
Of course, none of this was mentioned in the press release announcing the close of the Britney fansite. contacted the webmaster for comment.
Before we posted this, we asked him: "Is there anything you'd like to add or you felt was missing from any of your statements about why you are closing the website?"
His response: "I have exhausted my attempts at making Britney show appreciation and respect for the millions of fans that have been waiting for her comeback after all these years, with a recent incident, where she blatantly stood up two winners who had won a meet and greet with her, setup by her management through World of, on October 31st, 2006. These fans flew all the way from the east coast, paid for the flight themselves and had to go back home empty handed and disillusioned. Even though an apology was issued by management, Britney had nothing to say. After everything that has been going on, including the over-the-top behavior and latest antics, that was the last straw. If Britney does not care, guess what, neither will we."
Wow. With fans like that Britney doesn't need any enemies!
We're sure Spears won't miss the closing of that particular fansite. She's too busy recording her new album and working on other ventures.
In spite of all the current press issues, her new fragrance launch "Midnight Fantasy" out sold all of her previous launches.
Her fan base is still strong.
The true test will be in the songs. And we have faith that she's working with some hot producers and the comeback will happen next year.
God willing!
