Hi! Would be so grateful for anyone who has experience with this- or perhaps tell me if I’m imagining things!

I brought my 925 Tiffany heart bracelet into the store for a repair because the clasp is broken. The bracelet is from my 18th bday in 2001 but is still perfect except for the clasp!

The bracelet was sent out for repair which means a clasp replacement. When I picked the bracelet up yesterday, I could swear it’s a different bracelet! It feels much lighter (half the weight) and the links feel hollow- the heart feels thinner too.

Is this possible? Would Tiffany swap out the original bracelet for something flimsier without telling or asking me? Are the new bracelets Tiffany makes lighter with hollow links?

Eeek I’m just so used to the weight on my wrist after 24 years. Does anyone know if the weight of these bracelets has changed over time and/or why Tiffany would do this?

Thank you!! Appreciate your thoughts and insights!

Have you got (close-up) photos of your bracelet that you sent in for repair? Does it have any distinguishing features? Any specific scratches/dings etc that make it unique?

You might not be imagining things...I wouldn't put it past Tiffany to just give you a whole new bracelet if your old one was of a heavier weight and it was more worth it to them to give you a newer version that uses less metal rather than fix yours. Agree with @MiniMabel that if you had any distinguishing marks on yours that you could compare to the one you received back? Though I'm afraid you might have a very hard time fighting this with Tiffany.... (sorry I guess I sound very distrustful but I'm just afraid my worst fears about so-called "luxury" companies have been proven).

Maybe someone here or a reseller like MyPrelovedTiffany can provide the weight in grams of a vintage version and you can compare to the one you got back?

And also any hallmarks? Are they different now? Considering your bracelet is from 24 years ago?!

If you find any discrepancy, you'll need to escalate it with Tiffany. If your original bracelet has been effectively stolen, that's a crime and must be treated as such.

Thank you for these wonderful and very helpful responses!! I will try to weigh “my” bracelet! QueenLa thank you so much this info- it’s a huge help. My bracelet had tons of scratches after 20+ years and now has none. I’ll also call Tiffany to see what info they might have about what happened while it was out for repair. If anyone has other experiences like this or advice I’d be thankful to hear from you. Thank you all!

Is it possible they went overboard with polishing to get rid of the scratches? I know polishing can take away some of the metal, would explain why it feels lighter. A polish might be standard when something goes for repair, though I am speculating.

Do keep us posted on what you find out. Would be very interested to hear what Tiffany have to say
