Someone recently brought back my old marquise e-ring thread! I have such mixed emotions on this particular ring. I love the setting and the heaviness of the platinum. I know there are no pictures of it posted but while it isn't a bold or thick band, it isn't dainty either. However, the "bowtie" shadow annoys the heck out of me. If I could just get past that..... Anyone else wear marquises or pears that have that darkness appearance in the middle of stone?

I love pear, marquis and oval shaped diamonds but I personally can't do a bowtie. I have seen one pear shaped diamond without a bowtie and it was amazing. i don't know if it was just cut differently or if it was really unnoticeable but i would love one just like it! It's really a shame that i can't get past a bowtie because i see some amazing marquis diamonds second hand with amazing prices. I'd like to stock up on them for when they become super trendy again. Lol.

It is absolutely because of the cut. I think the bow tie effect is caused by light leakage. I don't think you can fix it. Having it re-cut probably doesn't make sense as the diamond will lose some weight.
