boutique vs. neiman?

thanks all for your input! Hopefully I won't meet a snobby SA. I'll probably go to both NM and the boutique, but seems like NM is more generous going by the majority. Crossing my fingers for a nice SA! Hrm the advantage of points and return policy with NM... Although I am a bit confused still with how NM might yank your card according to the previous debated posts. Ah we shall see. =)

Jamie.... uh you know I'll be asking for your opinion besides we're going together. and missy I know you're not studying for our next test b/c you posted about 7 mins ago. Hah you addict!

uh...there is nothing wrong with a "study break" :roflmfao:

then I had 2 missing packages within a week from 2 different NMs that they ended up have to refund me the $$$.
I wonder if that incident pushed 'the powers that be' to not honour your card anymore? :shrugs: Did they just do it without sending you a letter to clarify?

We don't have a NM here in Canada, :sad: but it sounds like they give a person great incentives to shop there.

I've bought from both the boutique and NM. I do think the Chanel boutique associates are fairly knowledgeable. Though I did have a SA at the boutique tell me they didn't make the MC north/south bag in red and I knew she was wrong. Then when I went to NM, the SA there didn't even know what the MC's were. But, once I talked with the Mgr. of Chanel at NM, she knew exactly what I wanted and made sure to find me the bag...which she did. And today, she told me she would call when she receives the baby cabas. So, NM probably gets my vote. But, I think you should find one person and stick with them...that's your best bet when your looking for that sold out item.

I don't think you would necessarily have to go to a product specialist when it comes to specific designers. I know several SAs at my NM that are as knowledgable and friendlier than some of the specialists. When you are looking for rare bags, some specialists hold only for their "high-roller" customers.

I give major props to my Chanel specialist, she easily knows as much as my SA @ the Chanel boutique.
Maybe other vendors/designers aren't as proactive w/ the SA's about teaching them all about the product{?}

Don't get me wrong. Some specialists are just the greatest SAs you can ever meet. We have 4 specialists: Prada, Gucci, Chanel, and Dior. The Dior and Prada specialists are some of the best SAs you will ever find. Not only do they know Dior and Prada respectively inside and out, they know nearly just as much about other designers. I wish I can say the same as a newbie! :P

No worries Chrissie...I realize both statements are true and appreciate your honesty.:flowers:

I'm glad someone asked this question. I was wondering about the same things. I had a bad experience last time i went into a botique. It was a LV in Las Vegas and they looked at me like my head was cut off or something. How rude!...they didn't get my business that day tee hee

I had the same experience at the Chanel boutique in SCP this past summer ... I prefer shopping at NM, the SAs were more friendly. Unfortunately, we don't have NM in Canada so I have to buy from the boutique; luckily, our SAs aren't as rude as the ones at SCP.
