Bought a bag from DeMellier and not super pleased…

Hi all, I'm helping my dad buy an anniversary gift for my mom. She picked this out (haha) and when it arrived she asked me to check it for her to make sure the condition was good, as their anniversary is not for a while but DeMellier is having a sale. It's a nice bag, but to me the suede looks damaged.

I'll attach photos, because I've recently bought a suede Dooney and a suede Chloe and neither had texture that looks like this. Will you let me know if you think that this is just something to deal with or something I should escalate to DeMellier?

Also, we ordered an anniversary card and that wasn't included (I'm sure they could mail one if we asked), and they said they'd include a return shipping label but there's definitely nothing in the box. Minor inconveniences, but sloppy.

Hmmm, it looks like the strap also has a flaw. I'm going to contact them. This is too much, I think. I'm not super picky, but my mom is reaaaally picky. I'm disappointed that I'll have to tell her the bag isn't good condition; she's so excited. At least we have time before their anniversary!

Update! They wrote me back very quickly, less than 12 hours. I think it's a very nice and apologetic email which is great, and they are willing to take it back! So points for service.

My mom was set on this color but apparently we ordered the last one. Not sure what she'll decide to do now! I think the trouble is it's a small business, and I sympathize because I also manage a small business. I'm bummed we were unlucky because I see lots of people post their very good DeMellier bags on Instagram, but it happens.

I love my DeMellier mini-Venice and it was perfect, though without suede. I've seen their inventory in person and it all looked great, so I think you just were a little unlucky. I hope you give them a chance to rectify.
