Hi all,

I got a Bottega Veneta Mini Jodie two years ago in Blaster, and am still loving it.

Recently, I noticed a very tiny chip to the zip pull as well as some inevitable hairline scratches from use.

Just wanted to ask:

1) Has anyone on here required hardware/zip replacements on their Bottegas? I imagine they won’t just be able to replace the zip pull and will have to change out the entire zip - or am I mistaken?

2) Will I be able to get the hardware replaced for free or for a fee if the bag was purchased from an official BV retailer?

For context, the wear on the zip pull is hardly noticeable at present, especially due to the aged gold hardware (see photo, for which I had to zoom in very closely to capture). It’s unlikely I’ll get it changed anytime soon - but I want to plan ahead just in case.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Question…why would you think a 2 year old bag wouldn’t have some very minor (in my opinion) signs of wear? If it really bothers you, of course go ahead and pursue it, but I would think you would be charged for sure.

Thanks for your reply.

Not sure how I came across as thinking it was unusual for a 2-year old bag to show minor signs of wear. I did mention in my original post that the hairline scratches were “inevitable”.

I understand every brand has its own policy on repairs, and was wondering about BV’s. For context, I previously took a newly-bought Fendi Baguette into the store as it had scratches on the buckle. I was charged for the repair even though the bag was brand new - because it was purchased through an official retailer, and not at a Fendi store. The SA who assisted me said it would have been free if it was the latter.

I have not had the need to take any of the BVs I own for fixing, and was hoping to hear from others who have.

Thanks in advance for your he

Last year I submitted a Preloved bag to BV for repair and I had no issue so they will definitely take the bag for repair.

Unfortunately I don’t have an answer for you on the hardware but they will definitely be able to advise when you bring it in as they have a price list for repairs at the store

I have had the zipper replaced twice on a jacket under the warranty so it was free but have also had bags, both store bought and pre loves in for refurbishment and the cost is usually minimal but they always do a stunning job.
If you’re in Europe you can just submit a request for a quote through the website, not sure if they do the same elsewhere.

You can submit a repair request to the "customer care" department, in your country. You submit me this via the website. They will send you back and e-mail of their list of questions, and depending on the repair required, pictures you may send - they get back to you letting you know if they will be able to help.

(I'm actually in the process of a repair of an older bag now, just have to start the above process. The above back and forth is new to me, I'm not sure how long they have had this in place. I used to just call the repair centre directly in New York City and discuss what I want, and ship the bag to them from my country. Alas I was told that department no longer takes direct calls.)

In the past, I've had major repairs of very old bags and they did a great job. Yes I had to pay for it. These were the older styles and it's been several years since I've sent anything in, pre-COVID lockdown. I also had to pay to have the return shipping too.

My opinion only, I would anticipate wear and tear such as minor scratches you noticed on a metal zipper pull. The older bags had the leather zipper pulls which would be easier to replace. But if you ask them to replace the metal zipper pull, that may involve replacing the entire zipper which means sewing the zipper back on, perhaps workmanship on the leather around it too. For example, when a zipper pull breaks off, it usually requires the entire zipper to be replaced. Maybe these scratches can be polished away? But it is a smooth shiny metal, it will show small scratches over time from basic use.

Let us know what you decide and what they say. I am curious too.

Good luck!
