We first heard about this back in mid July when
NicAddict shared a link to an article about BV collaborating with Girard Perregaux for their first ever watch under the Bv brand. I thought it might be good to start a thread on this for reference purposes. (
jburgh, please move this if you think it shouldn't be here)
So here's a close-up of the unisex watch and some more details below.
"The watch is quintessentially Bottega Venetaunderstated, unusual, refined, and functional. With its circular face, rounded bezel, and curving clasp, all executed in a suite of soft browns, the watch has a quiet, organic sensibility that belies the precision, luxury, and detail of its design and construction."
The mechanical movement is
18-karat rose gold and a marvel of craftsmanship with automatic winding and the date and small seconds as functions. GP made the movement exclusively for BV.
Face & finish: Cigar-colored lacquer polish & textured grené finish
Case size: 41mm
Case material & finish: Brush Titanium in brunito finish (corrosion-resistant & hypoallergenic)
Strap: Cigar intrecciato in Crocodile
An exposed screw sits on top of gently curved crystal. The back of the watch is also faced with crystal, leaving the workings completely exposed. The Cigar croc strap fastens with an adjustable clasp in the shape of Bottega Venetas signature belt buckle. It will be in select BV boutiques starting December 2010 and costs US$14,600.
sbelle also recently posted the official print ad for this watch on the link below. That picture has a peek at the back of the watch.
