Bottega prices in Italy

hi mistikat, that sounds like a pretty fabulous deal you got! althought it's in the men's collection, i also had my eye on the club stripe duffel - it's a great bag to travel with and would fit almost anything i can think of that i'd need for a business trip. the python sounds delectable... please do post some pics. ;)

Here are the pix! A few showing the wallet, front, open and back, and with the Roma bag ...which I wore today and loved! (The matching, mouthwatering python hobo was 3,500 Euro... it was gorgeous...). I had intended to get a matching brown woven wallet but when the drawer opened and I saw that python, it was game over... so much for my budget intentions!

Seriously. The runway python bag that Holt's sells for (cough, cough) $12,000 is 6,000 Euro. Basically, everything was half (in Euro, so not really half in price) the Canadian numbers.

I hear you. I couldn't justify paying over $2700 plus tax for a Montaigne that costs under $2000 in the US... especially now with our dollar above par. Geez. And since I didn't expect to be in the US any time soon in the end I gathered up my courage and bought an almost-new noce through eBay that came in, with duties and taxes and shipping, around $1300. Then I went insane and bought a completely new nero Montaigne again through eBay a few days later and again, with duties and taxes and shipping again it came out to around the same price. So I figure I got both for less than one would have cost at Holt's, before taxes. Crazy.

My BV obsession is very new and I have only heard so far of Holt's selling BV in Canada. Do you know of any boutiques or other stores in Canada besides Holt's that sell any BV, or are we basically stuck with them short of online shopping and trips abroad?

I have wanted a BV for a LONG time and honestly, we landed in Rome at about 1 and by 3 I was at the shop. (How's that for obsessive?!) It was a really fun experience and the fact that I knew I was able to save so much made it that much better.

Of course, now I have a new addiction - just what I needed. Not!!!

BookerMoose, as for where else in Canada you can buy BV, I think Holt Renfrew is, sadly, the only game in town. They ARE having their private shopping night tomorrow, though, so if you are planning a purchase, you will at least get a gift card back, size depending on how much you spend...

Thanks! I'm almost too afraid to use it - it's still sitting on the dining room table where I admire it every time I pass. Actually, I'm just too lazy to move all my stuff out of my current wallet but will do it.... this one is more slender and I'll have to edit a lot of junk out. Probably a good thing!

i know exactly how you feel, mistikat. when i bought my karung wallet a couple of weeks back it didn't even make it out of the box for 3 days! then i decided to take it out for a spin and loved every moment of it. aren't bv babies such objects of beauty? :girlsigh:

When she opened the drawer with the wallets, it was the only one like it (and naturally way more than I had intended to spend...) and of course, then she brought out the matching hobo bag. Fortunately, it was a lot easier to say "no" to that one!
