Boil it down for me: what are spring's fashion trends?

hmmm....

this is an interesting question. there are a LOT of trends out and some lasts for a long time. some are really short termed.

what i think stands out this season is

pockets, two, on the bottom of shirts/babydolls/tunic style sweaters
*this i personally had brought out a while but now it's starting to pick up. which makes me =D because main stream = cheapppppp

bottomslkdjf.jpg

jackets with a curved on the bottom
*i predicted this, and no one really comments on it, am i the only one who notices this detail?! it's been here for awhile

colors: yellow, green, orange and fushia..in that order

skinny jeans aren't going anywhere for now.

trench coats, or coats with a longer length..three fourths ideal..don't think it'll go down to floor, that's more of a very fashion foward thingy

empire style tops for s/s and l/s length tops

floral prints

patent leather my personal favorite!

messenger bags or clutches, big bags are not 'in' but loyal customers will still continue to use it, it's more functionable then fashionable but for newness purpose i'd say the formers are more in then the latter.

that's all i can think of now. i'll post more once my head stops humming..

The runways have actually been showcasing wide trouser leg jeans and pants again....
Although skinny is still in, wide legged pants are also back...
I already saw a photo of Kate Moss sporting wide leg jeans...
I love that look, especially with a crisp white shirt- I find it so sophisticated.

i'm aware of that but that's the hardest part, differencing (sp) between what is on runway and what consumers would readily accept. i think that wide leg is still in the early stages and you would see some sporting it but for it to be in full swing i'd probably say this fall if not next spring.

some things on runway never make it to the 'trend' level

^^ I agree. I had a pair of wide-leg rogans and just sold them bec regular wide leg trousers are far more flattering for the whole Marlene look. I will not be doing wide-legged jeans UNLESS they are super flattering. (maybe Chloe's)

wide belts (love that waist definition look)

trenchcoats (everyone is making one, you'll be sure to find one in your price range)

flats (huge trend)

If it was such a huge trend that half the world has invested heavily in it, it is not going to disappear just because the tulips bloom.

Examples would be the color brown, ballet flats, "embellished" everything (though I think we will see a gradual tone-down in the embellishment department, like more tone on tone, etc and less overt Bedazzleism) dangly "chandelier" style earrings, and of course, those empire tops that are always talked up as something to hide figure flaws.

But please, PLEASE check your side view before buying one. About 70% of the time, they look great from the front, but from the side give the impression that the wearer is expecting a Blessed Event of a reproductive nature.

A different top may solve the problem, or it may require a different wearer. There is no way to predict which will be the case, but for many of us, our figure flaws will be better concealed by a regular or slightly "princessized" top that is just a bit looser. And yes, that means that you might need to get a larger size. If that displeases you, stop looking at the size tags, just look at the fit, and when you get home, close your eyes and cut the size tag out.

To return to trends, gray will be joining brown as a popular alternative to black. The caution there is to remember that very few people look good with gray close to their face.

Do not be deceived by red carpet looks that involve sparkly "gunmetal" colored dresses. If you have a skin tone similar to Angelina or Kate, then by all means try on a sparkly gunmetal colored top. It will probably look great on you. But do not fool yourself in thinking this will translate to other shades of gray.

Most of us will look better if we layer our gray top over a cami in a color that looks good on us, or wear a scarf close to the face, or a big ol piece of worldbling. Just get something in between your face and that fashionable gray!

Or do a gray skirt, pants, shoes...

haha, I agree on the flouncy/baby doll tops making you look/feel that way, I bought an adorable ivory cap sleeve empire waisted lace with faux-diamond bottons top, and I looked like I was a few months in, haha. So I took each side of the flowing part and with a tiny gold safety pin nipped them to the waist and i put a small gold butterfly pin there : )
