If it was such a huge trend that half the world has invested heavily in it, it is not going to disappear just because the tulips bloom.
Examples would be the color brown, ballet flats, "embellished" everything (though I think we will see a gradual tone-down in the embellishment department, like more tone on tone, etc and less overt Bedazzleism) dangly "chandelier" style earrings, and of course, those empire tops that are always talked up as something to hide figure flaws.
But please, PLEASE check your side view before buying one. About 70% of the time, they look great from the front, but from the side give the impression that the wearer is expecting a Blessed Event of a reproductive nature.
A different top may solve the problem, or it may require a different wearer. There is no way to predict which will be the case, but for many of us, our figure flaws will be better concealed by a regular or slightly "princessized" top that is just a bit looser. And yes, that means that you might need to get a larger size. If that displeases you, stop looking at the size tags, just look at the fit, and when you get home, close your eyes and cut the size tag out.
To return to trends, gray will be joining brown as a popular alternative to black. The caution there is to remember that very few people look good with gray close to their face.
Do not be deceived by red carpet looks that involve sparkly "gunmetal" colored dresses. If you have a skin tone similar to Angelina or Kate, then by all means try on a sparkly gunmetal colored top. It will probably look great on you. But do not fool yourself in thinking this will translate to other shades of gray.
Most of us will look better if we layer our gray top over a cami in a color that looks good on us, or wear a scarf close to the face, or a big ol piece of worldbling. Just get something in between your face and that fashionable gray!
Or do a gray skirt, pants, shoes...
