  1. OKay so I am having a little problem with my blood pressure now. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for some home remedies that may help to bring it down. My meds are NOT working. My readings lately have been 240/148, 210/140, 215/139, the list goes on. Any remedies would be greatly appreciated.
  2. :wtf: Please if you haven't already done so contact your Dr ASAP. Those readings are really high (as you know)

I don't want to recommend anything as there could be so many reasons why it is that high right now. Your Dr needs to see you and give you an exam:yes:

I'm glad to see that even though the top #(Systolic)
is up there the bottom #(Diastolic) is not as high (that's a worse case scenario)
  3. OMG!!!

Are you absolutely positive that your readings have been that high??! That is extremely dangerous. Are you using your blood pressure machine correctly?

You need to get to a doctor ASAP!! If your blood pressure has been this high for a long time, you are running the risk of having a stroke...This may also be a sign that a stroke is on it's way.

As Cassidy said, it's good that your Diastolic number isn't as insanely high as your Systolic...You just need to get to the doc ASAP.
  4. These are really high readings. When my mother's BP was that high she complained of feeling dizzy and said it felt like insects were running around on her scalp. She had to be hospitalized to bring her BP down as she was at risk for a stroke.

    PLEASE see your MD ASAP.
  5. Yeah I am positive they have been that high. I'm not using a blood pressure machine. The nurse has been taking it for me. I was hospitalized twice before because my reading was 240/160.
  6. I would try to see a doc today if possible. Anyone walking around with pressures that high for too long may end up having a stroke. I know that finding the right b/p med and dosage can be such a long and frustrating process. I have seen my patients try one medication after another. Let us know how you're doing. I hope you feel better soon!
  7. I think you need a change of mom used to take some ayurvedic products and also sometimes drank water in which she boiled 5 - 10 cloves of garlic, mashed up with the water it was boiled in...also an ayurvedic treatment. I don't know how much it was effective, and she did that stuff concurrently with her meds, when her BP was lower anyway. If her BP got higher - above 200/150 or so she didn't mess around with home remedies but went straight to ER. It's only happened about 2 times in about 20 years because she's very careful with her doctors visits/meds and general well-being.
  8. i would suggest you talk to your dr, contact a wholistic medicine specialist as well (it worked for my dads diabetes), and a nutritionist. also, you need to exercise when you get the ok from your dr.
  9. My dad has fought high blood pressure for as long as I can remember. He takes a pretty high dose of medicine, follows a strict low sodium diet, exercises regularly, and drinks lots of water. It is amazing how many foods have high sodium and you don't even realize it. Even candy! He has to be extremely careful. I have the opposite problem. At the dr on Monday, my blood pressure was 90/60.
  10. OMG please get help soon!!
  11. Please, please talk with your physician right away. Those readings are seriously high. Your body is being damaged every minute that you allow it to stay thet high. Please take better care.
  12. You must consult your doctor & get proper medication. It would be folly to reply on any alternative remedies posted here with the best intentions without proper medical advice, those readings are extremely hgh. If you are consuming alcohol or smoking cut it out!
  13. DEFINITELY see your MD ASAP!! Those are extremely high readings and no "home remedies" are going to bring your BP back down to normal. You need to get control of this immediately in order to prevent the many complications that are associated with hypertension.

The proper drug regimen should help control your BP - are you compliant with your meds? Compliance is mandatory in order to control high blood pressure. Make sure that you address all of your concerns with your MD including compliance issues, OTC & herbal meds (if you are taking any or plan to take any) and insructions for proper diet and exercise plans.

Good luck and I hope you are able to get this under control immediately.
  14. I agree with the others, those are extremely high readings. I know others have told you to see your Dr ASAP BUT.....I have to suggest that you may need a second opinion with A DIFFERENT DR as you stated you've been hospitalized for this twice and your nurse is taking these readings. Obviously, this has been a problem and either your current Dr is not prescribing the best treatment or you're not following it. A good Dr should be able to come with a plan to lower it.

Good luck and I hope you get your blood pressure under control soon. You'll feel better all around when you do!!!
  15. Thanks for all the advice. I think besides a change in meds I need a change in doctor. I don't think the meds are working for me. I take them the way I should and I exercise. I don't drink alcohol and I don't smoke. Something clearly isn't right.
