When you extract you are helping the sebum (oil, dirt,etc) come out of the pore that is clogged, basically you are "popping" a zit. A professional has gone to school to do this sort of thing...but beware of anyone using metal tools to help with the extractions as they can damage the epidermis (top) layer of your skin.
No extractions do not damage muscle, at least when done right. I think you would have to grab someone's whole face and smash it to do that type of damage! Besides when you go in for a facial a prfessional will determine if you need extractions or not, sometimes a deep cleaning will help clear the blackheads up. -J
