I bought a pair of Tahitian stud pearl earrings from Pearl Paradise. I worked with one of the employees there since I wanted them "as black as possible". They pulled several pairs to choose from and ended up with a set that I'm real happy with.

I went to one of those open your own oyster places on the California coast. I was lucky, my oyster contained three black pearls. I put one in a necklace and had the other two, that were luckily both the same size and color, made into earrings.

I also have Tahitian pearl studs from Pearl Paradise. Their prices are reasonable for the quality. I think they also have dyed black akoyas as well, and those would cost less.

I purchased some beautiful Tahitian pearl earrings from NaHuko last Summer.
Mine are more steely grey/turquoise and rather large. I searched for a very long time for these.
If you want a dark pearl they seem easier to locate. Maui divers had a great selection and reasonable prices. I've read positive reviews about Pearl Paradise.

Another vote for Pearl Paradise. I have bought lots of pearls from them- most of what I purchase is not on their website so call them for what you want. Their customer service is awesome.

Tahitian black pearls come in many colors, but almost always not completely jet black. The name comes from the black lip oysters Pinctada Margaritifera that make the pearls. I bought a lot pearls from Pearl Paradise. Their customer service is excellent. You can call, email, or chat. They have more stock that is not listed on the website. They can choose a few pairs based on your color preference and email pictures for you to choose.

Thanks- I will probably get some for Christmas. I love the Pearl Paradise website and how you have many options for color and size. I like the 8-9mm( I have VERY tiny earlobes!) Tahitian pearl studs, with peacock or dark silver tones.

I bought a pair of Honora during one of those QVC specials. I like black pearls but wasn't sure if I'd wear them often or they'd look good with my skin tone. So I didn't want to pay a lot to try a pair. Turns out I like them a lot. Wear them several times a week. But the low-cost pair is good enough for me.
