  1. Hi Ladies

On both of my thumbs I have these black lines coming from my cuticle to the end of my nail. Its not bruises, but it looks like the black lines are coming from the inside of my nails. I'm so conscious of my hands/nails and the way that they look!
Does anyone else have this problem or know how I can get it away?

    Thanks in advance

  2. Vitamin deficiency. Exposure to heavy metals. Try Google. Good luck.

  3. Hi
Thanks for responding- sorry, but can you tell me a little bit more? what exactally should I Google? Is there a specific type of vitamin?
    Thanks

  4. Try googling "black lines in fingernails".
Or a quick call to your GP nurse. They can usually point you in the right direction.

  5. They could be benign nevi/moles, or could be more serious or even malignant, especially it you're an adult. You should probably get them checked out by a dermatologist.

  6. Yes to this! You can get melanoma spots in your nail beds, and they lead to lines kind of like what you're describing due to the overproduction of melanin pigment. If you had a weird mole on your skin, you'd want to get it checked out, right? It's the same with your nails. ESPECIALLY if you've noticed any changes in the line since you first noticed it.
