Hi,

My wife’s birthday is coming up and I wanted to buy her something from Tiffany but I wanted to make sure it was appropriate. She is going to be 34 and we have two kids so I’m looking for something appropriate for a young mother.

I really like the sapphire bracelet I attached but I wanted to make sure it was age appropriate. Appreciate any thoughts you have. I hope it is something she could wear forever. Thanks!

It is a beautiful bracelet but how old are your kids? I ask because it is also somewhat delicate and you don’t want something that could be broken and lost because she is carrying a child or has one swinging off her.

If you have young children I would suggest a more substantial silver bracelet or a necklace. The sapphire by the yard is lovely on.

I do have young children, will be 2 and 4 this summer. I was under the impression the silver Tiffany was more for teenagers and college students? I like a lot of the silver jewelry, and there is a wide selection of it I just wanted to make sure it was appropriate for her age. If it is great, she may be getting a few things!

You know your wife best and what her views would be. I’ve never bought into the “youngins” stuff about Tiffany’s. I might stay away from the more trendy options (but that’s just because I prefer to have more unique things than the “it” thing) but there are some beautiful silver options that are more durable vs a two year old and I would never classify them as “for a teen”.

Also, it depends on your wife’s tastes. For example, I think the bone cuff is awesome and would work well with kids (it would get scratched but she can love those or get it polished) and really durable. But she might not like chunky statement pieces...

I had tried on the sapphire bracelet in person and it is gorgeous. I would have bought it but I already own and wear 4 diamond by the yard bracelets 247. I think that bracelet is something she can wear with young children. The platinum is very durable, juts make sure that it it not too loose on her. I size mine half and inch bigger than my wrist so that they are not too loose and get caught on things. Why not get her that and give her a gift receipt. If she doesn't like it, she can go and exchange for something else.

Hi! I like your bracelet. I have seen it in real life and it is gorgeous and the style is classic Tiffany. I also like that it has 5 stations so you see a sapphire at any angle (vs. a 1 station or 3 station).

I am not a fan of most of their silver pieces as I find them too young. I know ladies will disagree here and say age doesn’t matter but to me, age does matter. I for one, do not want to wear a “Return to Tiffany” or open heart anything. And if you go to a Tiffany, all the young girls hover around those silver pieces.

That said, I do love a few of their bold iconic silver pieces. If she likes silver and bold, the pieces I have and love especially for summer are:
Peretti Bone Cuff Bangle
Peretti Bottle Pendant in Medium size
Peretti Turquoise Cabachon Ring (this is an amazing piece for me as it speaks summer. Super hard to find as turquoise is rare but I know of two pieces in case you are interested).

These are all bold pieces so it’s best to see if she likes silver and bold. If she prefers delicate, the bracelet is lovely.

Another idea is the Tiffany Victoria pendant or earrings. With your price point, you could get the small size. It’s a gorgeous and iconic design.

My vote would be either the sapphire bracelet or Victoria necklace or earrings, something in platinum. She can wear those pieces anytime vs silver to me is more limiting. I also think platinum is more elegant and classic she can continue to wear it as you two get old and gray together! You are super thoughtful and way cool!

Appreciate all the thoughtful responses! I believe I will go with the platinum and sapphire bracelet. My wife likes more elegant and classic jewelry not sure the bone cuff is her thing but I do appreciate the opinions. Someone talked about sizing, do the bracelets come in different sizes at the store, or is that something I would need to bring her back in to get fitted?

Hi! Great choice and that bracelet is gorgeous! The bracelets are all 7” which is the standard length. My wrist is super small but I do not shorten it. I like the loose swing and prefer to keep the piece in its original state. It is not going to fall off, it’s not that long.

I would think your wife would be fine with the 7”. I think tight bracelets don’t look good anyway and makes a person’s wrist look fat. Bracelets need to have movement.

If you decide to shorten though, please be sure to ask for the shortened links back.

I think it's a lovely bracelet too. You can start an official "wish list" for her if she ever mentions other pieces, and then take her in for a special occasion and they'll gather them up and present them for you to look over. I'm almost 50 and love the chunkier silver pieces. It blows me away that they are thought of as high school or college age pieces. I can't imagine paying $600 for a necklace when I was a starving student or poor working girl in my 20s. I have noticed, however, that they discontinued some of the all silver pieces and opted for "pink" gold, or ditched yellow gold for pink. That is a trend that jewelers are now starting to see become less popular, so the standard white/yellow gold and platinum are always good choices for longevity.
There was a young mother in the store with her baby and toddler when we were there this past weekend and she was getting charms with her kids' initials on them. They have charm bracelets and lots of different charms, and they are a good, solid, kid-proof weight.
I agree with willeyl - if you size it, ask for your spare links in case you ever want to adjust the size again.
Anyway, there is something for everyone for any occasion at Tiffany. Their pieces seem to hold their value too.
What a special gift! Post a pic if you can ;)
