Beware of Longchamp bags from Magnums.net

I just wanted to share my shady magnums.net shopping experience with you all. I normally don't post on forums, but I am appalled at the quality of the Longchamp bag I received from magnums, especially after reading so many glowing reviews on this website.

After researching and reading the almost unanimously positive reviews of magnums.net on this forum, I went ahead and bought a medium Longchamp Pliage bag in beige. When it arrived, it looked and felt nothing like my two other authentic Pliage bags that I bought in Longchamp stores in France and Switzerland. In fact, the zipper and the buttons aren't even the same color hardware! See attachment: the zipper is pewter and the buttons are gold! I also noticed that the bag is not double-lined like my authentic Longchamps - it's only one layer of thick and rather stiff nylon.

There could be two reasons for the atrocious quality. The tag on the inside reads Made in China, and I am well aware that Longchamp is outsourcing production due to high demand. However, foreign made or not, Longchamp still maintains standards for its bags, no matter where they are made. I doubt that this bag, with its glaring deficiencies (most notably the hardware), would make it past Longchamp's factory quality controls, and then make it past a set of quality controls at Magnums. A more plausible explanation is that Magnums does not sell authentic Longchamp bags. Listen, I'm not against fakes (it's your choice), but I am against paying real prices for fake bags. I'm mad that I got duped into buying this bag for a high price, and although I will get a refund, it still hurts my pride to spend an additional $8 sending it back.

Either way, be warned of doing business with Magnums. Although their coupons may seem enticing, don't pay authentic prices for poor or fake bags.

You have posted a photo of a real bag. Magnums is an AUTHORIZED retailer that sells only authentic bags.

If you search our Forum, you will find that the zipper-button combination on your bag is standard for that style of bag.

Let me guess.... the bags you bought in Switzerland and France have long handles or are the small size. This is the first time you have bought a medium with the short handle?

I think everyone would appreciate it if you could support your claims with further evidence, like proof you received the pictured bag from Magnums—perhaps a sales invoice, as an example. Pictures of the alleged fake Magnums bag alongside your authentic ones would also be much appreciated.

Thanks for alerting us, but I encourage everyone to maintain a healthy dose of skepticism especially when a $25 off coupon code is expiring in about an hour.

Full disclosure: I just ordered a Longchamp today from Magnums, so I'm trying to keep everyone grounded, myself included, in the event that the OP actually is onto something.

I didn't want to immediately defend Magnums since I'm waiting on my first purchase ever from them, but guess I don't need to. Phew! Thanks ballet_ruse

OP- My seafoam green medium short handle bag also has the same pewter/ gold button combo. Like Ballet Russesaid, it's a real Longchamp.

If you buy current bags in France or here in Switzerland, you'll notice that most popular colors (Black, Brown, Beige) are manufactured in China. If you want one that is made in France, I suggest that you go to a local dealer and go through the bags in person. Authorized retailers can be found on the Longchamp website.

Or you can have one custom made from the Longchamp website as I have and they are made and shipped from France.

I purchased my Cosmos from Magnums and not only did I have a great interaction with the sales associate, the bag was lovely and I am totally satisfied. In fact, I have a second version in black on the way - again the woman with which I've had the pleasure of ordering from is a delight to speak with, and I know my black Cosmos will be terrific.

This is a reputable company. I think I would research things more carefully before I would make these types of allegations.

I also have four Longchamps purchased from Magnums that look just fine when stacked up next to my boutique purchases. I would have no hesitation purchasing from Magnums again.
