I'm interested in getting my first Chanel bag in NYC and planning to check out the selection at Saks but wondering if a boutique would have better selection. There are a lot of bad reviews about SA's not being very nice and I really don't want to be treated badly when I am potentially spending that much money. But would the boutique have more bags? Is it worth making an appointment? I am looking for a beige bag - either WOC or mini and have no idea if these bags are even available anywhere. Thanks for your help!
Better selection at Chanel boutique or Saks?

NYC has lots of independent boutiques.(soho) The dept. stores that have Chanel in them like saks, bergdorfs, or Bloomingdales might have some items that the boutiques won’t have. If you go to the stand alone…they will guide you to which dept. store to go to, in case they don’t have what your want.
I suggest doing a Midtown Chanel tour to check both item availability and how responsive SAs are. I've done this a couple of times and it's a really fun shopping expedition 
If coming from below 50th, you can start with Saks (50th and 5th)
Then walk up 5th Ave, check if the 57th boutique has a long line
If it does, you can go to Bergdorf Goodman first (59th), then go to the 57th st boutique
If you still haven't found what you're looking for, continue east to Lexington for Bloomingdale's

I feel you! I agree with above! Do Chanel first buy make sure to stop by all other stores to see their stock. I’m going to Europe and the city I’m going to only has one boutique. From all the videos I’ve watched stock on minis and woc are impossible to find and SAs can be jerks. I don’t have high hopes for myself. Post an update!
Soho Chanel seems to always have the worst line. In my experience, Saks Chanel SAs were most welcoming and friendly.
If you can drive, I recommend going to Shorthills. I couldn’t find the bag I wanted from soho or 5th Ave and none of the SAs were useful. But my SA at Shorthills NM was patient and nice! He created a Chanel profile for me and put me on a waiting list! Luckily I got my bag in one week, still waiting for my wallet, hopefully I’ll get an update on that soon!
I actually am looking for a SA at the Sacks Chanel - nobody is picking up the main line! Could someone help please? CS said they have some wallets in stock that I’m looking for.
Definitely an SA at Saks! Much more nicer and helpful from my personal experience. Goes the extra mile to track down your Chanel desires
