I have been looking for an 18K gold charm bracelet, and many reviews of bracelets I see online lament that a bracelet is lighter or more delicate than anticipated. This normally wouldn't bother me, but if I am to put charms on the bracelet, I don't want to worry that it cannot withstand the weight.

So what is a good weight for an 18K charm bracelet? There is one I particularly like, but the weight is only 6.1g. There is a 10g bracelet, but the links are larger and it isn't as refined looking. Is the difference enough that I should go with the heavier chain, or is the smaller one sufficient to securely hold charms?

I don't know about the specific weights, but I prefer a heavier chain/link for charms. Some charms will be larger than others and don't look as nice on a thin chain, IMHO. So if you are putting the charms together yourself, you'll have more choice in the charms you can use with a heavier chain.

I actually put together one gold charm bracelet, and then later changed the charms to a heavier chain. So been there - done that.
