I have a store credit with $240 on it that I’ve had for two years. I haven’t used it because all of my purchases have been made overseas or online and I can’t use the gift card online. I purchased 4 new pieces this year so I won’t be needing any new pieces for a while.

I was thinking before the rumored price increase comes, I should use the gift card to make a purchase and then sell that item because it will be harder to sell the gift card. I don’t want to end up losing money though. It doesn’t seem like the lower price items sell very well in resale. Are there any items you can recommend that would be good to purchase and get the cash back?

If the card isn't time limited you're best off keeping it and using it eventually. There are no guarantees you'll break even or have a profit. It's a perpetual unknown and depends on somebody wanting your specific goody while there's a sea of stuff that's your competition. And if more expensive items sell better, it means you spending more: why take on the risk?

Why didn't you use the credit on the 4 new purchases?

Hard to think f anything at LV for around that price, let alone to resell.
i couldn’t use it overseas or online. I don’t live that close to a store so the one purchase I made in the US this year was done online.

I know if have to spend more than the value of the card. I was thinking I’d probably have to buy a wallet or other SLG closer to $1,000

It doesn’t expire so that’s good. I was just thinking the best time to use it would be before the price increase

At least in the EU, the current price increase was only 2 to 3%. If the increase is the same in the US, it would only be $20 to $30 on a $1,000 item. Probably better to just keep it for later than possibly buy a item and sell it for less than what you paid out of pocket after using the credit.

Oh! I expected a bigger increase!
