So I am on the hunt for a great everyday crossbody bag. It doesn’t need to be huge, but it needs to house my phone, six ring key holder, compact wallet, coin purse, an if possible my mini pochette. I really want an outside pocket to put my phone. and, ideally I’d find it in color other than black as I’ve got multiple black bags. It also needs to be lighter weight and will wear well. So far I’ve tried the following bags:

1. YSL mini Lou camera bag. Love the bag it was just too small. Another couple inches wide and I could have made it work.
2. Coach Cassie. Great bag, but I could only find it in black and I’m trying to avoid black. And to be honest, I thought it was a little boring.
3. LV Odeon. I found the crossbody strap a little short, and I hated the opening.
4. Loewe Puzzle I’m the small. Almost perfect, but back pocket didn’t fit my phone.

I am flexible on price point. Although I’d really like to stay under $2500. I’m open to pre-loved. I am very concerned about glazing issues which is why I’m not considering the pochette Métis. I would love suggestions of bags I’m not considerin.

I've been a big fan of some of the Gucci crossbody styles for men. I've had a black crossbody with front pocket for years and it still looks good. Not everyone's style, of course, but offering a few options as suggestions if you're interested. The first one is not black. Included the last 2 as I thought the bee design on the second is cute and I like the strap on the third.

What about the Loewe medium puzzle? I love mine and the phone fits in the back pocket. After owning one for a couple of years, I just splurged on the small puzzle. They are both works of art IMHO.

What is the quality like? I’ve been extremely wary of Gucci, in part, because i had a tote where the corners showed wear after only a handful of uses.
Good question. I bought mine in 2007, so it's been quite awhile and production could have changed since then. The corners on mine show very little wear. It's a thin bag so I don't put it down and the corners don't wear much against me as I walk.

It’s over my budget new, especially once you factor in almost 10% sales tax, and I believe the strap isn’t long enough for crossbody wear. Because otherwise I’d be buying it. I loved the small size, it just wasn’t functional enough for me to keep at its price point. I have also considered a medium PS1, but as the resale value stinks I’d rather buy preloved and the straps are all two short for crossbody wear.

Portland Leather Goods Mini Crossbody Tote. Top handles, detachable adjustable strap. Believe me when I tell you that you'll have lots of room, that lovely outside pocket, and the leather will wear like iron, because it is REAL leather, not coated, not treated. And... you'll save a ton of money. Good luck making a decision. Check out the Portland Leather Goods thread here.

I totally understand if it’s over your budget.

I wear mine crossbody and I’m 5’8” tall. The strap definitely should work. I know that doesn’t solve the budget issue, though.

Thanks for the recommendation. I’ve had a Portland Leather Goods bag before and I didn’t care for it.

I'm going to recommend my absolute favorite bag of all: Proenza Schouler PS1. The size Tiny should be good for your needs. It has a slip pocket in the back, but of course, whether or not it's large enough depends on your phone's dimensions.
Also, there are PS1+ and PS1+ Zip with a zipped pocket.

Pochette Metis empreinte is my daily bag. As long as you don't bend the flap back all the way you shouldn't have any glazing issues. Unfortunately it's a bit above the $2500 mark.

I have a PS1 Tiny already, and the back pocket isn’t large enough for my phone (iPhone 11), and I think the medium is too big. The PM would be great but as I’m currently fighting with LV to get to fix glazing that is peeling off of my 6 ring key holder (that is less than a year old), I won’t buy any LV bag with glazing across a flap. I’ve been too burned.

Look into the Givenchy Pandora in size small. Super long crossbody strap. Handle for convenience. The front zipper is a front pocket for your phone. Plenty of room in the main pocket (the top zipper). This is the most ideal crossbody bag ever made.

the wrinkled Pepe leather is very lightweight, but the corners can get scuffed. The sugar goat leather is thicker but still not heavy. The goat Leather starts off stiff and boxy but relaxes beautifully with wear to the super cool slouchy look. Check out the givenchy Pandora thread.

new they are within your price range and you can find awesome pandoras in all colors pre owned less than $1k

ETA some people find the opening (the top zipper) kind of narrow but I didn’t think so, since the bag has depth.

the medium size is awesome as well, a huge opening, so easy to use, but for tall people the strap may not be long enough for crossbody.

I am also looking for a similar style for everyday smart errands bag. I like having easy access to my phone rather than a open top bag.

I find that Tory Burch do a few designs with an outside pocket. I am currently eyeing up the Fleming convertible bag, just not decided which size I want and the choice of colours are great too. The back pocket would definitely fit a max phone on the larger size.
