Hello all,

I'm looking for cashmere glove recommendations. I have my eye on the Loro Piana crochet cashmere gloves, but there isn't a store in my city, so I would be ordering them online. Are there any other brands you would recommend? I'd like the gloves to be warm, soft, and not pill easily. I've had a good experience with my Loro Piana scarf, which is why I'm leaning towards LP gloves, but not sure how the crochet will feel.

Thank you in advance!

IMO, cashmere is not good for gloves by itself.

I'd buy cashmere mittens, fingerless gloves, cashmere-lined leather gloves or wool gloves but whatever the make, I go through the fingertips on plain cashmere gloves and find it's not worth the investment.

I have some cashmere gloves that are knit from a now defunct Italian manufacturer. They are very warm and cozy but as @papertiger alluded to, you might be better served with cashmere lined gloves.

Maintaining them in a clean state requires careful wear and routine hand-washing.

House of Elgin has some very well made examples that you could try out. However if you like the appearance of the crochet cashmere from Loro Piana, you might as well purchase them. Just be aware that they are very delicate! Especially crochet since they will be more likely to get hooked and pulled due to the nature of the crochet finish.

Thank you for your response! I already have cashmere-lined leather gloves, but perhaps I'll look into wool gloves instead...

Thanks so much for responding! I do like the Loro Piana ones, but I have little kids, so don't know that delicate gloves are a good idea lol... I'll look into House of Elgin and see what they have :).

Just to let you know that Johnsons make cashmere and/or wool for various Hermes products, and used to make most of Chanel's knitwear too, they have some lovely gloves (as well as other things) and less expensive than LP.

If you're set on cashmere, ribbed versions should be a bit hardier:

Well, Scotland is World famous for its cashmere and wool cloth you know :winkiss:

Eric Bompard long gloves. My first pair lasted me 5 winters of daily wear before a hole was through one of the finger! I also wash them in the machine. I just bought myself another pair! The best cashmere gloves - not as warm as mittens but perfect for short dog walks and going shopping/in and out of buildings.

Thanks for your suggestion, I''m going to take a look!

As an update, I did purchase the Johnston of Elgin cashmere gloves, but found the fingers to be too long - those were returned. I also purchased the Loro Piana cashmere gloves and love how they look, but don't love the price point! We'll see what I end up doing lol.

Glad you found something that worked out for you. :) Sometimes price is no object when you know what you truly wanted from the start.
