I've been using the same black crossbody bag in nubuck for years, but now it's broken, stained and just worn out. So I need to find a new one. I've been doing lots of research, watching videos on youtube, following threads here and forcing my boyfriend to listen to me going on and on about the pros and cons of different bags. Still haven't been able to make a decision, so now I need your help.
I think I will go for one of the following:
- Gucci soho disco bag
- Celine Trotteur
- Celine Trio
What I need:
- black leather bag (didn't really like that my last one was nubuck)
- crossbody or carry on the shoulder
- work for every season, but especially for fall/winter as I have a really small brown crossbody bag which is perfect for summer and late spring, always bring this one for vacations to sunny places
- fit the essentials: wallet or cardholder, sunglasses (never use a case for my sunglasses), iPhone 7, earphones, lipstick, keys, access card for work. Also great if it can fit a passport, phone charger, thin leather gloves in winter but this is not crucial
- works for casual and dressy occasions.
- not to fragile, I want a bag that is meant to be used. I like the idea of having one great crossbody bag that works for many occasions instead of one casual, one smaller for dressier evening events and so on. '
- works in a climate with rain and snow and all four seasons. I don't own a car, so I walk or bike all the time, no matter the season.
From what I've read, here are my thoughts on pros and cons
Gucci Disco bag
pros: very functional bag, love the overall design, would work great with a lot of the clothes in my wardrobe, easy to use, don't need to baby the bag, holds up well
cons: not sure about how I feel about the large logo. I prefer an understated bag, minimal design and so on. My boyfriend hates this bag (maybe I shouldn't care about that at all. He thinks Gucci is pretty tacky and hates logos on anything). Maybe not as timeless as the others?
Celine trotteur
pros: love the design, would work great with all my clothes, love the celine style with its minimalist style, seems to hold its shape well, think this is a really classic shape and it will last a long time, the grained leather seems pretty durable, no big logo
cons: too small for being the perfect everyday crossbody bag?
Celine Trio
pros: love the style, I do love the celine style as mentioned above, works great with my wardrobe and everythings, timeless style, no big logo
cons: read about issues with the strap, might not look as good when full, leather seems fragile, seems like a bag you might need to baby, not as good for winter use since it's more of a pouch and might look a bit small with a winter coat?
My everyday life is pretty casual. I work as a doctor so I never have business meetings or anything at work where I need a nice bag. I walk to work no matter weather or season. My clothing style is cropped jeans and t-shirt/oversize knitted jumper/blouse deepening on the season. I wear sneakers or black ankle boots all the time. My boyfriend and I sometimes go to fancier restaurants, but we generally prefer having great beer from a small scale brewery and great streetfood in a cool hipster area rather than fine dining. We hardly ever attend any kind of formal events or parties. I love walking, traveling, working out.
So, which of the bags do you think would suit me best based on this wall of text
