Hello! I'm building a jewelry collection slowly, and would love to hear what pieces TPFers have bought that are their favorites, and the ones with the most regret or were immediate returns!

I would say my favorite jewelry pieces were my watches, like my watches from Lola Rose and Hexter and Baines. As for regrets, I have ordered jewelry in the past that was too small even for me that I had to return. One was a very tiny tennis bracelet and one was a pair of sapphire and diamond white gold halo stud earrings. I love the earrings as they are, but they look miniscule and weird on my ears.

Best: VCA pieces and Hermes farandole necklace, because they can be worn with anything and really elevates my outfit. Also moissanite tennis bracelet and rings set in silver - great price, great sparkle, don't need to be worried about them getting stolen/lost (great for travel).

Worst: Some of my Mejuri items... I have some items that are good from them but a lot of the earrings with non-diamond stones I bought have bad stone clarity. The stones are quite hazy, which made me wish they were just high quality CZ instead of low quality sapphire/topaz. Another thing I regret are opal stud earrings. Not really an issue with the earrings themselves - they are quite pretty. But I tend to leave my earrings on for months and opals aren't really suppose to get wet. So I have ruined some by showering with them often. For this reason I now avoid buying opal earrings and rings since I know they will get wet often.

I feel they are a bit hit or miss (at least for things I bought). Some of the pieces I love but others I wish I hadn't bought. If you have a physical store near you, then it'd be best if you can go in to look at it in person first.

Worst would be all my white gold jewelry still trying to let go of them slowly. So hard to let go of my Cartier C De Cartier diamond necklace in white gold when I want the same one in yellow gold. I wish Cartier can just dip that in yellow gold for me lol

I know it likely wouldn’t be cheap, but could you ask Cartier if it is possible to remake it for you in yellow gold? It would likely be a lot less costly than buying a new necklace, although I appreciate that you could also sell the white gold one to fund the yellow (but then likely get nowhere near what you paid for it).

You would be surprised what these jewellers are willing to do. I’ve just custom ordered a pair of earrings from Kiki McDonough in yellow gold which are normally only available in white gold. I thought I would ask on the basis that they could only say no, but fortunately for me they said yes and are charging me the same price!

I got mine off Etsy. I got this listing but they have 2mm and 4mm sizes too. I got a ring from them as well.

Sorry not sure if my photos are that great since lightening in my house sucks, but the reviews have plenty of photos.

Best: Classic pieces such as diamond solitaire ring, cluster diamond earrings and rings in yellow gold, diamond hoop earrings. Jewelry from brands like VCA and Harry Winston, Solid gold braceletes and earrings.

Worst: Estate jewelry that looked good at the time but were not very pretty regardless of the GIA specs. Funky diamond earrings and bracelets that I cannot wear now and also have no resell value. Pearls; don't wear them often if at all. Swarvoski rings. The swarvoski earrings and bracelets were actually a good purchase that held up for a very long time, but not the rings.

best ones, all fine jewelry that i have.
worst ones, all the costume non-fine jewelry, which are maximum in number, they are just stored away, i don't go out much nowadays and thus they don't get used anymore

Best: Most of my Cartier bracelets, such as the diamond JUC, Clash, Love cuffs, and Etincelle. Also the VCA onyx earrings.

Worst: Thin JUC bracelet (wrong size), Chanel costume jewelry
