Hello, I have tried to research a bit here. But can anyone recommend a site to authenticate an Hermes belt? I reached out to Bababebi but she doesn't authenticate belts. I recently purchased a Kelly belt from Brandear and even though eBay authenticated it I'm still uncertain. I don't own any Hermes in gold hardware and was surprised of the color in person. Any advice on who to contact?

Most authenticators, at least those who operate in good faith, will not authenticate belts anymore. Too risky. They are completely machine stitched these days, so quite easy to replicate. Brandear is extremely reputable in my opinion, but if you do find yourself wanting complete assurance, your best bet would be to take the belt to Hermès for Spa.

Thank you. I'm
Sending it back. I know the hardware is usually 18k plated but this one is much darker. It matches my 24k jewelry. And the belt has a horseshoe stamp so I'm
thinking it may just be a custom
Piece. But it wasn't labeled as such and I couldn't tell from the pictures. Thank you again.

Interesting, though if you’re referring to a horseshoe stamp on the hardware, this is not a Special Order. That is just one of the standard gold hallmark stamps that Hermès uses on their gold hardware.

Aah ok thank you very much. Hm I wonder then why it looks so orange and darker than 18k. Oh no, now I don't know, is this how they look? I don't own any hermes in gold hardware everything is palladium. Hm wondering if I should keep it then. I'm not close to a store so can't see any gold in person. I just don't want to walk around with it different than most and people assuming it's fake.

18K gold is a 3:1 mixture of gold to alloys (e.g. copper, silver, palladium, nickel, etc.). Not every 18K gold manufacturer uses the same alloy mixture— Hermès uses a specific alloy mixture, as do Cartier and several other manufacturers of precious metals. This being said, comparing 18K items from two different brands is a bit pointless. Now, if it were 24K gold, that would be a completely different story!;)

what would happen if Hermes considered it fake?
depending on the country, might it be confiscated?

Technically, since Hermés is a French company and French law mandates the destruction of counterfeit items, there is always a chance the items will be confiscated. Hermès international boutiques are just extensions of their French presence, so those same laws can usually be applied internationally, as well. If the item is considered to not be authentic, I would make sure to get written documentation of that to send to the seller or to one’s bank for a refund or chargeback.

For those of you who have anything in gold hardware, is yousrs a pale yellow ish gold like fine jewelry or does it look darker a bit brassy. I'm not asking anyone to authenticate here of course I'm just wondering since I've never paid attention when I'm browsing at the airport. In fact 38366535-B916-486F-8DF0-22A3792F7B0C.jpeg5164F9D3-C6EE-4785-94C2-A5F9D1C7B5DF.jpeg3F32E43E-54C6-43C5-9226-0D20D70BEC76.png in the picture it's coming lighter than in person.

Thank you all for taking the time to share your thoughts.

I have several H belts all with gold hardware and NONE of them are pale gold. I have the same color combo Kelly belt as you. H gold is definitely darker.

Constance up against my LOVE bracelet for reference
