Bedford is soft leather. Selma messenger is saffiano leather. Personally, I like soft leather better for cross-body bags. However, for running around with a toddler, saffiano leather might be a better option for spills and dirt.

I was thinking the same comfort wise about the soft leather. I also have a large and medium Selma satchel but find the strap is too short to wear crossbody...I may have to have some holes punched in their straps. The Selma crossbody seems longer. So do you go with what you love...or try something new and fall in love lol?

To save some money, I would first determine whether you can punch some holes in the straps of your Selma satchels to make them long enough for cross-body wear. If that won't make them long enough for you, I'd personally go with the soft leather Bedford convertible shoulder bag because it will be a change from your two other saffiano Selmas. I think the strap on the Bedford is even a bit longer than the strap on the Selma messenger. And the Bedford gives you two carrying options, cross-body or on the shoulder.

As I am also a mother (but my "toddler" is already 7 years old :smile1:) for me the bedford would be to small as an everyday bag. Fits nothing but the essentials like phone, key, tissues, sunnies.

Are you talking about the Bedford crossbody? It's smaller. I am talking of the medium Bedford convertible bag...it is similar in size to the medium Selma.

I just received my bedford and I love it! ! I only had a few minutes to play with it before having to run errands though. I plan on keeping wipes and 2 diapers in the back zippered pocket, my stuff in the main middle pocket, and binkies or small toy in the front. It is the perfect crossbody for when you have little ones in my opinion. I plan on returning my medium studded raspberry selma even though it's gorgeous and keeping the bedford.

I am nervous that the Fuschia Bedford may be too busy for me too.I mean it's gorgeous but definetly has a lot going on! I was thinking the Selma may be better to grab in this color and then grab the Bedford in black or luggage.

Yes I am talkinh about the bedford convertible (i have mod shots in the my new mk bag thread) for me its not a big bag, it is smaller than a speedy 30, the main compartment is narrow for my opinion and my needs for an everyday bag.

IMO, most cross-body bags are not meant to be large enough for every day use. Usually, they are meant for the occasional errand or outing when you need to be hands free. The only cross-body bag I own is a fold over tote, and I certainly wouldn't consider it an every day bag when folded over and worn cross-body.

The Bedford definitely holds more than the Messenger. I could definitely stuff more in the Bedford. If you want comparison pix I would be more than happy to post. Both are great bags!
