My skin tends to be quite dry during the winter, and I recently saw a YouTube video where it was recommended to mix a drop of a beauty oil in with your foundation. I tried it this morning with a small amount of Kate Somerville Dilo Oil I had remaining, and I love it! My foundation applied more smoothly & had a very natural finish, and my skin feels more hydrated.

So, do you use this method? And what products do you recommend? Are there any specific types of oil that work best? Anything from drugstore on up is fine. I've even read some sites talking about making your own from basic oils like almond or olive.

The only caveat is that I do not like products with silicones, so would prefer to avoid those.

Thanks in advance!!

I love using essential oils on my skin. I find they absorb amazingly without breaking me out. I use Trilogy's Organic Rosehip Oil, alternating with Dr Organics Argon Oil or Vitamin E... However, I cannot wear these during the day as part of my makeup routine along with SPF... SPF alone with my sheer foundation is looking pretty greasy midday :nogood:

I bought the Boots Organics Facial Oil at lunch at Target to test out. It was dirt cheap & seems to get a lot of positive reviews.

I use the Kate Somerville Dilo oil and LOVE it!

That's what I used this morning. So far I love it. I'm almost out though... haven't decided if I'll repurchase that one, or try something new.

I wondered about using pure oils... like an Argan or Marula oil. I hear a lot of people say they love Rosehip.

I would consider repurchasing the KS oil. It is expensive, but I have had the same bottle FORVER and it's still half full!

I use an oil by de Mamiel..The oils are made specifically for the seasons & are meant to be used
in the evening. This oil is quite incredible, IMO

I use de Mamiel too. I love the scent. I'm curious how you found out about about them. I don't know anyone else that uses de Mamiel, my facialist recommended it.

^ I will look into those, thank you for the recommendation! That isn't a brand I was previously familiar with.

I'm most specifically looking for something I can use with my foundation during the day.

I use L'Oreal Extraordinary oil - I use it everyday, I mix 2 drops in with my BB cream (also L'Oreal) and it gives me a super natural, dewy finish... i'm on my second bottle... I love it!!!

It's quite extraordinary & also use the cleansing balm, the exfoliant & the
toner...Had a facial with Annie so that is how I came across the line.
It was de Mamiel or Amanda Lacey... so I went with de Mamiel

Saved my dry skin last winter, HG status to me.
Also the Caudalie vinosource recovery oil is very nice.

I use it on bare skin instead of moisturizer and I also add one drop into my EL Double wear foundation, it glides on like a dream and I don't feel my skin tight and uncomfortable by midday as I used to.
