I‘ll preface this by saying that I am not an SLG person. I have a compact wallet and call it a day. However a cardholder would still be useful.

Then I came across the Kelly compact in this colorway. Pricing is ridiculous and it turned me off of the wallet until I couldn’t stop admiring and thinking about the color combo.

My questions are:

1) Do you have the wallet? Do you like it and what is your experience?

2) I am torn since this wallet is so beautiful but the price hnnnngggg it is absolutely too overpriced for what it is IMO. I could spend that money on a nice Louis Vuitton bag or Dior RTW. Do you also feel that I might regret the purchase later based on price? I‘ve been thinking about it for days. Have you ever found yourself in a similar situation?

It’s very cute but I’ve personally refused any SLG in the Kelly line because I believe they will be completely impractical in most of my bags. From taking up unnecessary space in a flap bag to creating an indent in the side of any bag or in other SLGs, it just seems like more of a hassle/worry than any joy I would get from it. Plus the price is outrageous (though I think the zipper on the back is a price driver). I also wonder how much it would actually hold as it seems quite narrow at the bottom seam. For a similar look and function at a much lower price, I would consider a verso Calvi, or even a personalized SO calvi once those become more available. Good luck deciding.

I own one and do like mine but it would not be my first choice of an SLG style to pick from Hermes. Are you able to go into a store (i.e. have one near you) and check things out in person? They should be readily available in most places (like in some color not necessarily the one you posted about) so you could at least see its size and features, what the leather is like (they come in different leathers), as well as check out some other alternatives for a card holder.

Edit 2: some photos of mine next to a calvi and a traditional card holder. It’s very much larger in size. It is more of a stand alone piece that you can hold or carry with you (like not one you throw in a bag) IMO. If that is not what you are looking for, I’d definitely choose something else.

If you like the look of the Kelly pocket I suggest the Kelly pocket to go, it’s a pouch and very practical to use as a clutch. I have one in epsom vert amande ghw and use it often, its practical to throw into a tote and then use to get lunch or in the evening. I didn’t get the kelly pocket wallet As I was worried about indents.

I like @auntynat ’s suggestion above. I have a BB kelly longue, phw wallet that I throw into the middle of my k28, B30 or other h bag with no issues of indents. But, I justified rhe cost buy saying that I would also use it as a small clutch. Not sure if this card case is worth it; only you can decide. Prior to falling in love with the kelly wallet, I never thought I would spend any money on H SLGs. No regrets.

I bought one in craie and never ever reach for it. It’s cute, sure, but so unnecessarily big and fit very little. And with softer leather bags, it can cause a dent with the hardware on the back. End up selling mine…
