Hi everyone! In the last month, I've fallen hard for the 2 Park Avenue Beau. I am thinking about breaking my ban, but had a few questions about the durability of the bag. Since I haven't purchased KS in a while, I wasn't sure if I could really trust the "reassurances" of the SA I spoke with at my local boutique (not sure if she thought it was truly a workhorse bag, or if she was trying to score a sale). Could I ask those of you who've owned the bag for a bit (I realize there doesn't seem to be too many of you) whether it's held up with regular use? I'm wondering if the leather scratches easily since it looks like a smooth leather, rather than pebbled. Do you guys think over time, the bag might "crease" a bit? While the bottom seems sturdy, I'm not sure if over time, the weight of things in the bag will cause an unsightly vertical crease that I've seen with other handbags in a similar, smooth leather. Sorry for all the questions and long post.

PS -- I'm torn between the purple and black/macchiato combination. I only mostly black bags (except for a grey Chloe and midnight PS1). I like the idea of the purple, but feel like the black/macchiato is a bit more classic and slight branching out for me. I wear mostly blacks, burgundy, and greys in the fall/winter and navys, prints, and bright colors in the spring/summer. I know I don't have to be matchy-matchy, but I want the bag to compliment my wardrobe.

Thanks! :smile1:

I have also fallen in love with this bag, Suli. I did find that some of the store models of this bag, ie the smooth black leather option, already had a couple scratches IN THE STORE! Im going to wait a whole minute before I take the plunge, and wait to see what our fellow PFers say about wear and durability...

Thanks for chiming in! I e-mailed a blogger who has a few posts of using her Beau. She replied that she loves it and that the leather has proven to be durable so far. However, she did warn that it was heavy, which is what I suspected.

I went to another KS store (I live in the DC area and we now have 3 in the area!) on Wednesday, and they actually debuted a smaller Beau! I don't see it on the website yet, but the SA said that it was part of the November rollout. Super cute, but I still want the original for a work bag.

This Beau bag pretty much sums up all things girly and flirty, and I can't think of a more perfect bag for work, school, weekend trips, etc. I love seeing this bag on fashion bloggers, and know I will eventually end up snatching up the pink/red or black version...There is a video on youtube with Brad Goreski explaining the inspiration behind this collection, and you can see that smaller bag of the Beau that you're referring to in the background on one of the models. :)
Keep us updated on whether or not you break your ban!

I've been really tempted to get this too, but the ones I saw in the store had scratches on the leather too. I have to admit that it wasn't the type of scratch that I would say it's ok it'll blend in eventually because the bag is so chic otherwise.

It was on the heavier side, which surprised me because there didn't seem like a lot of hardware or other reasons to make it heavy.

I carried my bag daily and never had any issues with any scratches or dents. the leather is very durable and quite honestly one of the best made bags I have ever carried. I took that bag with me everywhere and by the time I sold it off it still looked like it did the day I brought it. It held its shape to perfection

I just bought this in black online and so disappointed in the scratches and worried that in time will look horrible quickly. thoughts after months? any one put it to daily use and how has it held up?? TIA!!!!

Sadly, the black beau does not hold up that well. I don't recommend stuffing it full on a regular basis, as that caused the sides of my bag to bow out and lose that boxy, upright feeling. It also scratches really badly and polishing it with olive oil and leather conditioner really did nothing for the scratches. That said, I do still love the beau and bought one more. I'm hoping that with a little more care than I showed my black one, it will hold up better.

i ended up keeping it and found one on tradesy.com that is the cipria (light pink) color that is so hard to find now. though seller wasnt honest and listed it new, handles have dirt marks, BUT so love this bag that Im thinking of taking it to leather place and getting it cleaned. even though i am a nut about bags staying perfect.....i cant help this one and just fell in love with it. I am an LV girl for over a decade and literally fell hard for kate spade recently. that gold coast maryanne did me in, then this one. wow, the Beau is an amazing bag. highly recommend. People stop me, even men, and compliment that bag. :-)
