At Hyacinth's suggestion I'm posting this here. I bought this on eBay and am trying to find out if anyone's ever seen it before. I've searched Coach and Coach international and nothing. There's never been another on on eBay {or at least that I can find} The fact that I can't find another one and that there's NO Coach logo on the back of the charms gives me pause.

It's supposed to be a Baseman fob. It's the same print that's on the Wild Beast bags and clothing. Here are pics side by side with a fob I bought at Coach. The hang tag is identical. The clip, although bigger, is identical. The spinner, again although bigger, is identically embossed with the Coach logo. Side by side the chain links do look different.

Opinions welcome!

Have you looked at the Coach International sites to see if you could find it? It isn't on Hong Kong or Japan. I don't have an recent flat keychains, but Coach usually has the Coach lozenge on the backs.

I did look on several of the international sites but didn't find it. All the fobs I have have the lozenge on the back and that's what concerns me. I guess I'm going to ask the seller where she got it. I only hope she won't be offended by my asking and that she give me an answer.

So I emailed the seller and asked how she acquired the fob. Here's her answer

I am not at liberty to say how I got this item except that it is authentic Coach & one of the newest items from brands now collaborations.

Now I'm even more curious! It was cheap...guess I'll just enjoy it and let it go.

A friend had sent me the link to this auction and neither of us liked the way it smelled. The seller kept calling it a new Poppy charm. She repeated Poppy several times and Poppy has been discontinued for a while now.

It almost looks like the clip and hang tag are real and maybe the charms aren't. Or another guess I've had is some kind of unfinished prototype.

Not the first time and probably not the last time I've pissed away $50....as long as the lights stay on, it's all good.

The way it is wrapped in plastic doesn't look like Coach's packaging either. I would expect it to be wrapped in thin foam sheeting like fobs ordered from FOS.

The only deduction I can make is that the charm was made for a VIP client or brand event, and it was given out to invitees there. Coach did a few parties at stores with Gary Baseman (Rodeo Drive, London).

I know that's how the metal feather charms were distributed in the fall. Stores has launch parties for the fall collection, and attendees all received the metal feathers.

I guess the seller doesn't want to identify him or herself by saying it came from a particular event.

I'm not at all an expert on these, but isn't the front of the hang tag different, one says "New York" and one says "Made in China"? I can't read them that well but that's what it looks like. Has anyone seen a hangtag like that which says "Made in China" on the front?

Might be another clue-again, I'm no expert and I can't even see it that well.

ETA: oh wait, now I can see it looks like "New York" and I'm even on my big ole work monitor. :/

I previously purchased a different, large, all metal fob that had the same static plastic protective on it.

I do believe you are correct. After questioning her further I received this response

As a business owner, I have access and information about brands that is not available to the general public. I received this fob at an exclusive Coach event as a gift for sitting in on their presentation; that is all I am able to say about it.

I also believe the fob is authentic. Perhaps in the next few months we'll see it on their website...just remember ladies, you saw it here first! :yahoo:

It looks like you scored a great find! The seller's story sounds plausible. I have a few event items (not Coach) and they often don't match up logo / trademark-wise with items for retail.

That's pretty cool! There are several details that point to its authenticity, so I was wondering where it came from it too.
