Bare Escentuals - Rare Minerals

I am very interested to find out what a powder can do as a "renewal" treatment.

I am not sure I am ready to give up my nightime moisturizers yet; but, I really want to hear what others think of it. :amuse:

So no one has broken out from BE???

Some people do break out from BE. It could be one of two allergies: 1, being allergic to the application brush (in which case just buy a brush by another company) or 2. an allergy to Bismuth Oxychloride.

I belong to a BE community on LJ, and reports of an allergy to BE pop up from time to time.

I have super sensitive skin, and I haven't had a problem.

I love BE. I haven't tried the rare minerals... but if it has vitamin C, it's better if you don't use it in the daytime. I use something like that from Erno Lazlo (called c10 for 10% of vitamin C), and the specialist said not to go out in the sun w/ it.

But I love BE makeup. My mom uses it and so does my cousin. It's the best!!!!! I do not use BE skincare though.

Does BE have to provide full coverage? I like a light powder or sometimes foundation during the day, but I don't like cosmetics that completely even out my skintone. I like to have a little color left in my face! I'm tempted to try it but will it be too much coverage for me you think?

According to the SA's at the Bare Essentuals store, you use Rare Minerals on top of your regular moisturizers. I started using it a few days ago. I haven't noticed huge changes, but my skin does look smoother.

Just FYI I'm not currently using the BE makeup as I don't seem to be able to use without it looking powdery and IMO making me look older. I may give it another try.

I've been using it for quite a while (over my daily sunblock) I especially like the blush colors, they are so natural (especially "thistle") and "bisque" is the best concealer I've ever used and I wet it and use it as an eyelid base. It's good stuff and lasts forever.

How does BE do with contact lens wearers? Does the stuff flake off into your eyes?

I wear contacts, haven't had a problem with that. If you're worried, go somewhere like Sephora and have them give you a makeover with BE products and see how it feels.

I broke out from it, plus the colour didn't work for me so I returned it. But I might give it another try when Sephora restock all the missing shades. They are totally sold out and when I was there, so many people came to ask for it.

Yeah, the Sephora by my house was having a problem keeping it on the shelves a few months ago. It seems to have lightened up a little bit.

Try it with a different brush and see what happens the next time you decide to buy it. See if the makeup you currently use has Bismuth in it, that will give you some idea if the actual make up is causing the breakout. I've also used a brand called Becca. It was a liquid, but it was very gentle-didn't make me break out at all. If I ever go back to a liquid, that will be the one I go back to!
