I googled and couldn’t find answer so hoping someone here have experience. I just ordered a Barbour wax cotton jacket and was worried about the wax transferring on my new monogram pochette metis. I wear the metis crossbody so it will constantly rub on the jacket. Can anyone with both of these items share their experience? Did you ruin your bag?

I have both items and wear them together on a regular basis. For the last 3 or 4 years, in fact. No issue with color transfer. Enjoy your fantastic new items! 🙂

Oh that’s good to hear. I love the look of the Beadnell and metis together but was worried it would leave wax on my purse and ruin it. Was it ok even when the jacket was new with heavy wax? I hear the wax stains easier in warm weather too.

I had the jacket before the PM, so it was a little broken in by the time I got the PM. With that said, I only wear the jacket when it is on the cooler side. Never above 65 degrees Fahrenheit, really. So I cannot speak to the wax staining or transferring in warm weather.

Transferring a Barbour wax jacket finish to a Louis Vuitton Pochette Métis is not practical due to material differences. It could damage the bag and affect its value. Consider alternatives like custom accessories for a similar style.

Just bumping this as I only discovered this thread now - I've been wearing Barbour waxed cotton jackets since 2022 and prefer to wear my bags crossbody under the jacket, like Alexa below. From behind at least it doesn't ruin the line of the jacket, although it can look bulky side-on, and of course it keeps your bag safe from bag-snatchers!

I had a Barbour re-waxed by Barbour themselves and it did rub off on my monogram LV Sofia Coppola. After wearing it a few times with the Barbour the Vacchetta on the front and back of the bag and also on the shoulder strap had darkened a lot: I was annoyed at first, now I've grown used to it. This happened some years ago. I haven't worn it anymore with that Barbour but there's no way to fix it. Maybe LV would change all the Vacchetta, I might ask them sometime....
