Ballon Bleu or Tank Francaise

Hi,

I’m trying to get a watch for my 30th birthday. I went into the cartier store today to try on two watches: 1) Ballon Bleu 28mm with diamonds, 2) Tank Francaise small with diamonds.

I don’t really care that much about the movement so will get quartz movement on either. This will be my only watch, so I would want this to go well with outfits of all ranges, from casual to formal.

I feel like both are really great designs and look gorgeous, but can you guys please help me choose between the two? Which one looks better on my wrist? Thank you in advance!

Based on the photos, can you help me choose between the ballon bleu 28mm or the tank francaise small? They both have diamonds on them. I don’t care much about the movement so both will be quartz.

I'll say tank based on your outfit and your nails. The ballon to me is more formal and traditional since it's round, especially surrounded by all the diamonds. The tank is a classic, so can be worn well with any outfit, but it is much better suited to the more youthful, edgy, fun vibe that your clothes and nails show. The tank can be worn with everything, but the ballon does not (to my eye) look right with what you are wearing in the photo.

I like tank francaise on you, it looks stunning on your wrist! Also, I think it's a more versatile and classic watch due to it's shape. Round watches do not look elegant to me when they're above a certain size. If you're looking for the only watch to serve ask purposes I'd suggest the tank.

Balloon bleu!!! Hands down! I love the unique round bezel with diamonds all around! I love the crystal glass when you look at it at angle has a beautiful dome! Cartiers balloon bleu has a lot of unique characteristics that i love! Best investment piece!

Hands down I love the way the Ballon Bleu looks on you. It’s super classic and a touch more feminine. The tank looks very industrial to me and makes the diamonds feel a bit out place for me. Ultimately you can’t go wrong, but I love the Ballon Bleu.

I love both but I'm partial to the Ballon Bleu because I have one and adore it. Mine is the 36mm (no diamonds) and I wear it every day. The tank is beautiful but I prefer it without diamonds.

Both look nice on you, but my vote is for Ballon Bleu. The shape is more unique and I just love Ballon Bleu (have one myself in 28 mm but without diamonds and I mix and match it with many outfits/jewelry).
You can't go wrong here, go for the one that you like most.

You wear both watches beautifully - especially with your lovely nails and rings! I am leaning towards the BB based on size as it looks more significant on your wrist and I tend to like larger watches. The shot in the outside sun really accentuated the BB -so stunning!

Both watches look great but, I think the Tank Française has the edge when it comes to wearability. Even with the added diamonds, I think it suits you more. The BB with diamonds is fussy, would like it better without diamonds. With Diamonds, I like the Tank Française.

Thanks everyone!! I ended up going with the BB since I wanted it to be a more feminine watch. But I agree that they are both beautiful!

If you want diamonds I prefer the tank on you.
I feel that the tank lays more flush against your skin in an attractive way. The slight curvature the watch itself with the slated/sloping rounded edges surrounding the watch face as well as the continuation of the links from the watch face going around your wrist feels more "in place"? I suppose.
With your jeans and leather jacket, they fit the more industrial, slightly edgy look of the tank without being overtly hard-edge or masculine. The Ballon Blu feels a little too soft for your look.

While I love Ballon Bleu, I only like it in SS, plain.
I do not like the Balloon Bleu with diamonds, so I don't find it appealing to look at tbh.
The watch face of the BB looks a little small on your wrist to me. Unless that's what you're going for. However, I would prefer a larger watch face for the BB on you.
I have a feeling the diamonds are sort of enveloping the watch face in a way that makes it look smaller.

Just my 2 cents. Both watches are classic styles to the house! Really up to what you fall in love with more. Happy shopping! Please let us know what you end up deciding on.
