At first I definitely thought I wanted the Roman numeral dial, but now I’m wondering if the numerals look too large in the 33. I’m now considering the diamond marker dial. I will be getting a steel and rose gold. I’d love to hear your thoughts and opinions!

Another question: I saw on another thread that Cartier is now having the gold links for their steel and gold models extend all the way around the strap. Is this true?

Pics for reference: note I’m wearing an all steel that has the Roman numerals because they didn’t have the steel/rose gold with the numerals in stock.

I am a personal fan of Roman numerals on a watch. To me it serves a more functional purpose (Not that it’s that hard to figure out the time without numbers on it; but I appreciate the symbolic ties of having numbers in relations to the purpose of a watch).
However, having said that, Roman numerals just make it a tad faster to read lol.
I don’t have the Ballon Bleu, I have the TT Panthere, and when I use it to look at time I enjoy looking at the Roman numerals.

Diamonds add more bling, which is beautiful, for sure! But it makes the watch dressier and more akin to jewelry. And I think that’s just up to personal preference.

I don’t know much about the Ballon but I know that for the TT Panthere in the past, 1983-2004 (the line was discontinued in 2004) that many versions of the TT did not have the gold all the way around the strap.

When the line came back in 2017, they made the gold go all the way around, which I think is a nice touch. Feels more complete.

If they did it for the Panthere line, I don’t see why not for the Balloon! Hopefully someone with more knowledge will be able to confirm that for you!

My personal thoughts on the photos.

The diamonds are very cute and pretty. I feel that they emphasize on the round shape of the Ballon. They are also small and show a lot of space which may give a cleaner or more minimal look (despite the bling).

The Roman numerals are traditional and very classic. To me the linear lines and edges of the numbers are the perfect contrast and counterbalance to the soft curves and design of the Ballon itself.

But go with what makes your heart sing! It’s your watch after all!:tup:

Personally prefer the diamond markers on the Ballon Bleu, Roman numerals on a Tank.

I have a two tone Tank Francaise that I've had for a few years and the gold links do not extend into the sizing zone, so that any links which are removed for sizing down, would only be stainless.
