I was like you as well, it was LV all the way. Don't get me wrong ,I still love them (LV)but find myself leaving my LV in their dust bags to grab and carry my Balenciaga's. Once you own a Balenciaga... you can't help to fall in love and cuddle your bag like its a blanket, the leather is some thing else.
As far as the wear, I carry mine every day... even have a White GGH city and have packed it to death and it still looks GREAT!!! I first thought that these bags might not hold up well for every day wear but that is not the case at all. I think the First in Black is an EXCELLENT choice as I own that bag as well, it is a Classic... like the LV speedy is. Just remember at first you may not be over excited when you receive your first Balenciaga because you are so use to LV's... this is the way I was at first but now they are all I want and want and want...lol!
