Ladies

I’m looking to get a small beige bag to carry cross shoulder which I can wear both during the day and evening (I have a few Chanel wigs which I find very comfortable but I want something different and with less obvious branding)

I’m debating between the below from Balenciaga and Saint Laurent (I have aSL tote but don’t have anything from B)

help?

I still need to try the Saint Laurent one as I’m not sure if baby or nano would be the right size

What issues with quality have you had? Shame to hear

I’ve been on the fence for the balenciaga bag as I always wonder if the city bag is going out of style but it keeps coming back in different variations and I like it.. also most of my bags are classic style and that would be something different. But you’re right the SDJ looks nice overall ‍♀️

I own the small size and use it for work. It scratches easily so unless you take really good care of it or plan to wear it for going out then I won’t recommend it. But I do overall like the look of the bag and function of it

For sure u won’t hVe the same wearing out issue with Balenciaga
I just wonder if the Balenciaga nano is a bit more of a trendy bag?

Personally, I think the Balenciaga is too trendy for my tastes, but I just realised that the Sac de Jour croc doesn't exist in beige. Update: They used to. I just found one on Vestiaire. If you were looking for a black bag, I'd recommend the croc embossed shiny. I find it hard wearing, I don't notice scratches and mine has taken a bit of knocking and drizzle. I don't baby the bag.

Ah thanks, let me look into it

I am also looking now at the Lady Dior nano but that’s a bit less subtle and trendy as size. Any other inspiration?

Love the Lady Dior but do you mean the micro or mini? Micro is tiny and mini was too small for my tastes too. It would be perfect as an evening bag for an event if you have a small phone. Tough luck if you have an iPhone Pro Max. Lady Dior is my next planned luxury purchase but I think their small is closest to the SDJ nano. Dior does the most beautiful blush/beige bags, and I think it fits your desires most. I think out of all of those options, the Lady Dior is the best transition bag from day to night, if you're set on a beige bag.

Thanks is there a caviar or more sturdy leather version? It’s also pricier that the others so would want something more durable

I suppose if you want to stick to a light colour, patent would be the better option for durability. Less likely to colour transfer and less scratch-prone. You'll still need to worry about colour transfer and don't wear your denim with them. Unfortunately, if the coating deteriorates, you won't be able to replace that, but that's when your bags are decades old. You'll see the colour change before that coating wears. It'll yellow over time, but you won't see that so much with darker colours. It's just how things age with light coloured bags. It might fog up, as in not be as shiny as it was as well. You don't need leather conditioners for this kind of leather, just a clean cloth to wipe it down. Same goes for any shiny croc-embossed leather.

Dior doesn't do caviar. Their lambskin is durable in my opinion. I had the same line of thought, wanting Dior to do some sort of caviar or pebbled leather, but when I felt the leather in person, I didn't think it was necessary. You'll still need to care for it like any other smooth leather, buff out the scratches to make them less noticeable. Nevertheless, I think the lambskin feels more luxurious. Miles better than new Chanel lambskin, and I wasn't even impressed with Chanel caviar either.

I think when you're spending big money on these bags, you need to get yourself to a boutique to feel the bag yourself.
