Balenciaga Will Host Two Bag Personalization Experiences in New York City This September

By Gary Duff | August 26, 2019 | Style & Beauty

For a limited time, Balenciaga will host a selection of its Winter 19 bags for in-store graffiti personalization this September.

Bags available for customization include the new Balenciaga Hourglass, in multiple sizes and materials, plus many styles from the Balenciaga Shopping line.

The brand will offer the special service at two of its New York City locations; the first run, from September 5 to September 8, will be hosted at the Balenciaga store in Saks Fifth Avenue, the second run, from September 15 to September 20, will be held at Balenciaga's flagship store on Madison Avenue.

The collection of bags comes in a variety of colors: bright red, acid fuchsia, pavement black, billboard white or cement grey leathers. An on-site artist will tag the bags with the customer’s first name, initials or birthdate.

Customization will also be available at other times in Los Angeles and Miami.

I've never understood the need for personalization on clothing/accessories. I know who I am, thank you very much, I don't need reminding . Seriously though, you'd best be sure you like your bag, there's goes your resale options!
I agree. I think the only bags that should have initials are the Cambridge Satchels and LV luggage (i like them with personalization).

@lesAdrets You made me look at their IG! Ack! What have they done?!?!

When will they replace Demna and restore our favorite brand to its former glory?

I never would have thought the graffiti bags would have sold as well as they did either, but here we are lol.

What’s funny is that I could see getting customization done on one of the novelty bags like the shopping totes. Wonder if I could get them to write "Ceci N'est Pas Un Delvaux" on one :P

Oh how I miss Nicolas heading this house.

Hey @aalinne_72 .. remember that wonderful Bal Mirror you did yourself, well .. maybe you should market yourself for this because I KNOW that you would do a WAAAAAAY BETTER job than someone with a permanent marker!!!

It’s ugly. Do you have to pay to have them do this? I feel the brand is just taking the p*ss out of its customers now.
Couldn't agree with you more, and yet .. the September Vogue (US) called Demna one of the top 20 designers in the world?!?!?! I stopped following their IG account sometime back because it was just stupid; it's almost like he's having a whale of a time making fun of those that used to love the brand!

in a few words: it's meh
the 'artist' was 'painting' with permanent markers...
she has a few pages of guideline of "know how" , and even the size of the letters/numbers, proportions and distance between them is all strictly regulated, still it looked kinda 'DIY' rather than high end personalization, imho...

That’s just sad.

I was interested at first, but then the SA said that it is strictly regulated and there were a lot of prohibited words. At most, you can only have your birthday, name, or any decent word written. There were also character limits, which was funny to think that this is supposed to be graffiti. Not worth it IMO.
