So we bought this old house a few years ago and been renovating room by room. Finally made available to me is the room that will be my walk in closet! I have A LOT of bags and am exploring display/storage options. Below are some pics of the room (sorry for the mess blah blah). I would love to hear some ideas or see shared inspiration! I guess I should mention that there will be some clothes and shoes stored as well, not only bags!

looks like a charming old home...love the doggie
I don't really have advice - line the walls with shelves?
I like the idea of leaving the ironing board up so you don't have to get it out each time you want to use it

I imagine due to the ceiling slope youre going the custom route? I redid my walk in last year via ikea and loved the result. I also set up a built in vanity to get ready which I highly recommend if you like to sit and do makeup.

For me, it would depend on how you like to store your bags. Upright and stuffed so you can see them or flat piled on top of each other (or even hanging like CeeJay did!). I agree with the others on side wall shelving, but depending on how your storage preference could mean the difference between broken up custom shelves or several units of varying sizes placed together.

I just checked out your bag inventory list and regret to inform you that this room is not big enough.

On the bright side, you have made my day.

Just one piece of advice from me, please make sure to put in a heavy shade or curtain on the window.
My previous house had a window in the closet and all of my shoes and bags got ruined from the sun and heat that built up.
That’s a great point thank you. That window also overlooks the road so I was thinking of changing to frosted or stained glass. But curtains are a great idea.

I was hoping to try to DIY it actually. I remember seeing someone do glass shelves with lights and was thinking of doing something similar.

And of course good lighting and a full length mirror are important
Yes! I’ll need some recessed lights and some mood lighting

Yes it will be tight. I’ll have to get creative which is why I’m consulting y’all, the professionals.

Funny you ask! I was just going to post! I ended up going with sliding glass door cabinets, stacked 3x2 for a total height of 109in x 140in. Finished assembling pretty easily over a few days. Now I have a chance to comb through and inventory my collection as I fill the cabinets! IMG_3252.jpeg
And two shelves now filled! All my blacks and my firsts and towns.

Super loving the color you chose for the shelves and look at them getting filled up. Just to be on the safe side, everything is attached security to the walls?
Haha thanks! We solidly attached them all to the wall. Earthquakes aren’t common in these parts but still better safe than sorry!

I forgot to mention the shelves are from Ikea and they’ve come a looong way in improving products for easier assembly.

So much real estate for your bag collection. I think two shelves fit at least a dozen Bals based on your picture and you have so much room left. :graucho:

Hi do you have any updated photos? I wish I had an entire room for a walk in closet! I recently did a custom build in for my walk in closet and at same time converted a small closet into a handbag closet. I actually thought about converting an entire room (former den which if I knocked part of the wall down would connect to back side of my walk-in closet) but decided against it and now the handbag closet is already pretty full. And I probably have only about 75 bags not 250+ like you. Would love to see how you fit them all in this space!
