i know that bags other than LV use glazing, so figured to ask here...

i don't really understand what glazing does for a bag and why it's either needed or not. like, does the glazing on the edges protect canvas bags from cracking sooner? so, a bag with glazing is made better than one without b/c it protects canvas longer? i don't actually understand why a bag needs this.

LV uses a reddish brown dye to coat the edges of the vachetta. Brand new the edges look very nice but the dye does fade and the edges don't look as clean, which I don't like. I don't know why LV doesn't use something that would last, other brands have used edge coatings which maintains the colour. Although I do see that the fake LVs do keep their colour much longer. lol

I think also some bag designs look very nice with the edge glazing as a prominent feature but the edge glazing can crack after some use. The Chloe Marcie is one bag that I think looks pretty unique with it's shape but the wear/cracks on the edges do not look so appealing to me.
