pandorabox, I actually bumped this thread because I wanted a new answer! I'm not the OP but had the same request..and instead of starting a new one thought I'd just revive this one.

MK also some leather satchels called - Grayson's.

J. Crew Brompton satchel. Comes in bone, warm burgundy, and true black. The burgundy color is killer.

I know it's not a tester to see if one would like the Speedy, but for those of us who don't want logos all over the bag and prefer leather over coated canvas, this is a good option.
I always considered this shape a "bowler" shape.

Yes, it is very cool. It's soft but still holds its shape. This one is from the Fall 2010 line.

For coated canvas there's the regular Joy Boston ($740). I have a couple of these bostons and the canvas material is thick and durable so little to no sagging issue.

Roots Canada has the Kristina line. Leather is nice and thick with lots of pockets! It is made in Canada with Italian leather.
