Bag wonky or am I being picky?

I just got my Marmont super mini! It’s so beautiful! But once I got over the initial excitement and inspected the bag, I feel like it looks a bit wonky?

Initially I noticed the front seemed to be lopsided. Like the front right side sticks out more then the left. (Couldn’t capture this on photo) I felt like maybe I was being super picky. But when I looked on the back I think the “piping” on the edge on the right side goes in too soon. It doesn’t match the left. The front I can get over but the back I feel like shouldnt be that way.

I’d like to mention that this is my first leather bag. The only other bag I have are LV canvas. And they all look symmetrical and perfect from all sides. This bag is a bit puffy so idk if that’s why it’s not totally symmetrical.

I think I’m being picky.

This is what it looks like on the Gucci website. Not exactly identical. However it is still round all the way up.... and looks better than mine.

I think you're being picky. I also think it might be just a Gucci thing. I have a similar thing with my
Dionysus. I noticed it a bit ago and stressed over it but at the end of the day...it’s a bag that is going to be used. The bag structure is not going to remain the same as “new”. You will acquire minor stains and scratches as you use it. It won’t stay in pristine condition. Even if you get the “perfect” bag without any human made errors it’s not going to stay looking like that.

You can return it and get another but the odds of having the next bag have something you’re picky with will greatly increase as you’ll be even more alert over it.

As long as your bag didn’t come with stains or scratches or popped stitches or huge dents, I would just deal with it.

I would say picky too. The shape is going to change once you start using it. Enjoy your bag! The color is absolutely gorgeous.

Well, being picky is subjective. I understand where you’re coming from. For me, buying bags at this price point makes me nervous. When I’m
considering buying an expensive bag, I’ve probably tried it on several times and researched it for weeks, months, or even years. I would look at all the TPF posts about the bag. So when I finally pull the trigger, although, I am happy about the new bag, some part of me has hesitations because of the high price and sometimes I find myself looking for any imperfection to convince myself to return the bag.

However after being on the forum for so long and seeing others respond to posts like yours, I’ve learned to relax a little about my bags and accessories. In fact, I just got the Gucci Marmont camera bag. It was a fresh bag wrapped in tissue paper. I opened it and there were some faint creases on it. I was a little sad about it at first but really, I know I’m going to use the bag and it would eventually get creases anyway. It wasn’t anything crazy and I just thought to myself let me just enjoy it.

For your bag, I wouldn’t really notice the uneven piping unless you had mentioned it. And even then If I saw you on the street wearing the bag, I would admire it! Go ahead and enjoy the bag!

These are hand made items that will have unique “flaws” for lack of a better term. All of the pics online are photoshopped for visual perfection just like the models in campaigns. Enjoy your gorgeous bag in good health.

Thanks for everyones opinions! But I've decided to return it. I've looked at videos and photos of other peoples bags and I haven't see one with the same issue.

I understand that the bags shape will change over time and dents/scuffs will occur. I just don't feel like this is the same issue. Whenever I look at the bag I just have an urge to take some tweezers and pull out the piping! I feel like that's whats causing the front of the bag to be slightly lop sided. I get that same feeling of when I have beef Jerky stuck in the back of my tooth and I just want to pull it out! lol

Unfortunately, it's backordered and it took a month to get to me. So I guess I'll be waiting another month (hopefully not longer!) to receive a new one.
